Cool What Do You Do with your Pocket Change?

I keep my quarters separate as I use them regularly. They are handy to use for public transit, laundromat, vending machines, and making small purchases (cup of coffee) from the convenience store.

I put my pennies, nickels, and dimes in a small tin and save them for a calendar year (Jan-Dec) and it's almost time for me to take the tin to the bank after I roll them up. I usually have between $25.00 - $30.00 going by years past. I deposit the money into my savings.

I always pick up coins whenever I come across them. Hot spots are parking lots, area near fast food drive-thru windows, store counter area, on the bus/subway, parking meters, vending machines, on the floor in the bank...

You'd be amazed at how much money is out there. It all adds up.

Eventually roll them, take to the bank, and put bills away as a quick emergency fund

I don't like having pocket change. I used to spend it as soon as I got the chance. Now I hand it to my wife.

I like to spend change as fast as I get it. If I am filling up with gas I will try to make it where I use up the change. A really big thrill is when I am at the store and the cents comes out to exactly what I have in my pocket woo hoo I thrill easy

I rolled up my coins for 2019 this morning and I had more than I thought. $28.90 in Dimes, $11.05 in Nickels, and $5.74 in Pennies totaling $45.69. I deposited $40.50 since I didn’t have enough to fill the rolls. The rest ($4.99) went back in the tin.

I normally keep my quarters separate, too. At the end of the year, I take them to a CoinStar machine and cash all of the other coins in, and it usually is a nice little sum of money each year for Christmas spending!

I save them in my little bank and when the bank feels heavy I roll them and then take them to the bank. Then I put the money in our Christmas kitty. I also pick up money off the ground.

We don't get much change these days because we pay for most stuff with our debit cards.

I put dimes in my little piggy bank because they're light and won't break the bank. LOL

I put nickels and pennies in my large heavy piggy bank.

I spend my quarters, usually a dollar at a time.

Quarters, dimes, and nickles:
1)Bus fair.
2)Store purchases.
3)If I get enough of each kind of coin, I put them in coin wrappers and cash them in at the nearby bank.
4)Very infrequently: Coinstar machine at the Kroger near my house.

I can't remember the last time I used coins for pay phone calls.

I put pennies in the penny tray at the nearby carry out.

I’ve been seeing on the news that we are in a national coin shortage due to the pandemic when businesses had to close and more people doing cashless payments lately. This has lessened the amount of coins currently in circulation. I rolled up what I had saved so far and brought them to a few local stores near me and they were happy to exchange them. I had $26.50 in pennies, nickels, and dimes.

A few of the stores around here won't give you any coins back. So I guess we're tipping them whether we want to or not.
