I have been watching The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis and right from the beginning it is hard not to notice the beauty of Tuesday Weld and she is also very talented. I have also heard though that she led a really hard life and was wondering if it was even as far back to the days when she was in this show. I heard she was a heavy drinker and also smoker(which i guess was the norm back then though)at least the smoking. Is this the reason why she left the show or was it because she wanted to do bigger things?

Tuesday Weld was certainly beautiful young lady. She did later in life talk on talk shows about her young life in show business and her struggles with alcohol. I do recall her saying she never really had much of a childhood at all. I don't believe the reasoning for her leaving the show was because of her drinking issues, but more she was most likely being noticed for other things. She did come back for a brief time in seasons 3 and 4.

According to many sources, her childhood was troubled and sad. Her family struggled financially after her dad died, and Tuesday was a child model to help bring money in. It is stated due to multiple stressful situations, she had a nervous breakdown at 11, and started drinking and sleeping around in her pre and early teen years. I think that this why she was nicknamed" The Chick With A Past Before Before She was 16". I read she even stated in the press her dislike for her mom. Very sad. Dobie was way before my time, but I have seen a few reruns. But not with Tuesday. I saw her in aTV movie back in the 90's. The film Pretty Poison was OK as well.

Tuesday is still with us, of course, and living I assume quite comfortably. Her father was a member of the Massachusetts Weld family that includes politician William Weld. The Weld's did not like Tuesday's mother however and so Tuesday and her younger siblings were denied access to the Weld fortune - until after her mother died. Her relationship with her mother was often strained, but Tuesday did credit her mother for keeping her children and rejecting an offer money from the Weld's to give them custody.
