In his first appearance Dino spoke. Why did he stop talking and just go to barking like a dinosaur dog in the rest of the episodes do you think? I loved his very snobby voice.

I'm not sure why but maybe the thinking at the time was that a talking dinosaur dog wouldn't go over too well so Dino was just given a regular barking voice once he became the family pet.

I can see that. I just thought his voice was cute. I also love Gazoo's voice.

That was a really strange episode !

I'm not positive about this , but I think Dino had already been shown in some episodes before as a regular pet dinosour / dog before this one where they found him at the campsite and he was talking? That's what makes it really strange ! Almost like it was a flashback ep.of how they first aquired Dino ? Also he looked bigger than Dino usually looked!

I'm glad they decided to have Dino be a regular , non talking dog !

I agree, a talking Dino would not have been good, Mister Ed the talking horse was enough.

When I think about it, the appliances that The Flintstones have are usually animals, for example if I'm correct there's an episode that shows the alligator looking creature that serves as the garbage disposal underneath the sink in The Flintstones kitchen. Some of those animals talk and say a one liner for comic effect.

Yeah! The appliances usually make a comment about what a crummy job they have and say something to the affect of oh well it's a living!

The other day I was watching the Flintstones and there was a scene of Fred operating his dinosaur crane at his job , but it was a different one than he usually operates and it talked!!

Is that the same episode where the dinosaur crane Fred usually operates is out of service because it has a bad tooth and needs a cavity filled? A cement mixer drives up and then the cement pours down the chute and fills the dinosaurs tooth.

No, it wasn't that one ! That was funny when the dino.crane had a bad tooth

but I felt sorry for the poor thing!

I honestly forget what the ep. was about?

It was an old Season 1 ep. though!

I like Gazoo, he's a funny character. A new character created for the 6th season, I think he appears in about 10 episodes total which isn't really that many, too bad there weren't more episodes with Gazoo.

It was an old Season 1 ep. though!

I would have to check my DVD's and find the episode, I don't remember which one it is either. I just recall the scene when the dino crane had it's tooth filled.

In that episode what color is Dino (I missed it)? The blue Dino in the older episodes opening credits bugs me.

That's right I remember now, thanks for posting with the information. Ann Margrock is the 1st episode of season 4.

If I remember correctly, Dino was originally a reddish brown color but later his color was changed to purple.

That is a great point about the animals that do jobs around the house talking. I also think there comments about how there jobs are lousy are funny. I will have to see if Dino came before that episode he talked. What I also find weird is in the credits they always talk about Fred putting the big cat out but we never see them having a pet cat.

I wish they had more episodes with Gazoo. He is so freaking funny. I love when he calls Fred and Barney Dum Dum's.
