Default Has Big Lots changed it's image?

My mother went to shop at Big Lots today and she told me that Big Lots has changed it's image and I want to know why this is? Because if you go to any Big Lots they seem to focus now on furniture and it seems that Big Lots wants to compete with furniture stores and places like Aaron's and Rent-A-Center. And you'll see less bargains no interesting items and the food section placed in the back of the store. I remember when Big Lots used to be king of bargain stores and you could get good deals on anything from toys to holiday items electronics sitcom DVD sets and movies and now that Big Lots is focusing on furniture do you think Big Lots will go broke in a few years and lose customers due to this new image?

Could be that they've changed.

The closest store to me is in a highly congested area and that discourages me from regularly shopping. That has prompted me to drive farther to visit another Big Lots. I've gone looking for great bargains on tv shows on dvd, but I have found very little selection in my area. They had a bargain bin with about 20 copies of the same 5 shows. (Good for those who found bargains on their favorites, but Big Lots has always been a Big Disappointment for me).

I found this very interesting article about why Big Lots decided to change. Frankly, I liked it a lot more before. I rarely go there now.

The last time I went to big lots was to buy some dish rags for my sister. When I found them they had been priced at $15! I couldn't believe it... don't know what is going on with them at all.

I didn't even know they were still around; I thought they went out of business or something.

I've noticed they sell a lot of furniture at our local Big Lots too. I hardly ever go there any more, and I never find anything that I want to buy. The DVD selection is terrible at this one.

The one in my area has improved. It's in an old Kroger building and the furniture is in a separate area. You don't have to walk thru sofas and chairs to get to the food and housewares.

I have noticed a lot of furniture at Big Lots but they still have tons of other cool stuff. They recently opened one that is absolutely huge; almost too big. I think it's brand new so maybe they don't' have all their merchandise yet but the rows were around the perimeter of the store and the furniture was in the middle which made it look kind of weird. But I do love Big Lots. They have great prices.
