Hollywood Insider is here to give you the exclusive news on several major casting scoops that were confirmed by Gen-TV Studios today... Hold onto your horses, these are major exclusives we're giving you:

1. "Having Faith": This freshmen drama that is garnering critical raves and recently earned an impressive "A+" from Entertainment Weekly and "5-Stars" from the Los Angeles Times TV reviewers has just confirmed two incredibly A-List castings. We are able to confirm exclusively that both Jada Pinkett-Smith and Vivica A. Fox have joined the cast of this drama in supporting roles. Pinkett-Smith (most recently of Fox's Gotham) will play the role of Eve, the sister to Regina Hall's Faith and her role is described as "a fireball who tends to suck the oxygen out of the room and has strong opinions about everybody and everything." "She and Faith have been estranged for years and had a falling out years ago when Faith warned her against marrying a low-life scum bucket that is now her third ex-husband and we we won't find out until much later in the season what exactly the nature of that argument was or what happened to cause the divorce; but when we do it's going to be explosive." Fox, meanwhile has been attached to play the role of Harmony, the elder sister of both Faith and Eve and the "one who least has her life together; she is a career addict who has been in and out of prison more times than she has rehab and whose latest misfortune is marrying a severely abusive man who is also her main supplier of drugs." "Faith and Harmony haven't talked in fourteen years and Faith is genuinely concerned when she realizes how badly off Harmony is." "Reconnecting with Harmony becomes a huge point of worry for Faith as she tries to figure out what responsobility she has to her elder sister."

Pinkett-Smith is signed on as a recurring character, but is being paid a reported 998,000 (or 124,750) per episode of the series; with a guarantee for "at least eight episodes this season." Vivica A. Fox has signed on as a supporting character on the series (a series regular) and will pocket a cool 1 million per episodes of the series (which equals to around 80,000 for the entire season). Regina Hall of course stars on the show as the title character and is being paid a reported 1.9 million per episode (which is around 200,000 for the whole season).

2. "Bless Your Heart": It's A "Better With You" reunion, two stars of the former Gen-TV success will appear on the new Gen-TV comedy starring Cardi B.

This sitcom which already boasts Cardi B (playing the role of Lala M) as it's lead actress (and executive producer) has added several performers to its supporting cast. Sources confirm "the entire supporting cast as fired late last month and has been recast in new roles." Josh Cooke (Grace and Frankie, Longmire, and Gen-TV's Better With You) has landed a role playing Cardi B's brother-in-law; described as "southern, conservative and a total stick in the mud fixated on restoring the reputation of his family; who views his brothers marriage to Lala M as "a huge embarrassment and an error needing correction." Gen-TV veteran Susan Sullivan (Mallory's of Jefferson County; The Malones) has landed the role of mother-in-law and Jake Lacy (Fosse/Verdon, Girls, Gen-TV's Better With You and Better Without You) has landed the role of husband to Cardi B.

3. Michael Ealy is Out and Michael B. Jordan is IN: Shortly after news broke of Ealy's casting on Gen-TV's reboot of "7th Heaven" has come word that Gen-TV has secretly recast the role due to Ealy's commitment to another series ABC's "Stumptown." Gen-TV confirms "Ealy is out and Jordan has signed on for the entire season after reading the first four episode scripts." However, "Ealy will still appear on-screen in the pilot episode before Jordan's appears in the third episode." "The different looks of the two actors will be mentioned in an episode early on and will quickly be addressed and then never mentioned again."

4. Grand Jury: This highly anticipated drama has finally booked some actors to star in it. Anika Noni Rose (Power, The Quad, The Good Wife) has joined the cast as its headlining star. She will portray Federal Prosecutor Marlena Wesley, who is described as "A star attorney when she worked for the New York District Attorney's office who then moved to the Attorney General role in District of Columbia before being appointed by the president to the federal prosecutors office and has become something of a closer, landing the biggest convictions in the last ten years." Warren Kole (Shades of Blue, The Following, The Chicago Code, Common Law) has landed the lead male role in this show playing Assistant Federal Prosecutor Grant Hathaway, a trust-fund baby who has nepotism to blame for his rocky early career. His father, a federal prosecutor himself pulled favors to get him a cushy job right out of law school and he flamed out quickly, disgracing the family and getting fired after making numerous mistakes that cost the city of new york a fortune to correct. After flaming out of the New York D.A's office (ten years after Marlena was there) he paid his dues, moving to Chicago and working in several small law firms before getting his big break on a racketeering case that gained national attention and got him hired as an Assistant District Attorney for the state of Massachusetts. He was hired as a federal prosecutor by Marlena three years ago and has been her most loyal employee since."

---A Hollywood Now Report

Here are the latest happenings, rumors and gossip out of Hollywood and in this case, specifically Gen-TV Studios (and it's signature brand of TV networks).

---Grand Jury is getting a bit of star power in the new year. The freshmen drama is already performing above expectations, but sources say that executives at Gen-TV feel the show has potential to do better and needs a star with bigger star wattage.

With that said, Gen-TV has confirmed that they have fired Anika Noni Rose and her character Marlena Wesley is being phased out of the show. Speaking on this news, Executive Producer John Tram said "We are very grateful to Anika for her time, her talent and her professionalism, but we have decided to go in a different direction with the show and with its characters."

To fill the void left by its lead actress being fired, Gen-TV has hired a bonafide superstar to headline the series, Dennis Quaid has been tapped to portray the newly created role of Supervising Federal Prosecutor Frank Montella, described as "Rough around the edges, often sharp tongued and always to the point. He is a tough as nails prosecutor who is looking for redemption after his recent divorce cost him his job at the law firm he built his career at, which is owned by his now ex-wife and her father." "He is looking to rebuild his career and has a lot to prove."

As Marlena's role as chief of the department is now being filled by Frank; who has a higher rank and title than her, Grant Hathaway (played by Warren Kole) will remain in the cast, but will fill the role of Assistant Supervising Federal Prosecutor instead of Assistant Federal Prosecutor.

Gen-TV has also confirmed that they have hired three other actors to appear in newly created roles on the series. Jennifer Carpenter (The Enemy Within, Limitless, Dexter) has been tapped to play the newly created role of Assistant Federal Prosecutor Michelle Hargrove; who will take the vacancy created by Grant's promotion, and lastly; Chris Klein (The Flash; Wilfred) has snagged a supporting role as Junior Federal Prosecutor Ivan Hamilton.

What is the most profitable show in Gen-TV History? Answering that question is the goal of this Hollywood Now list. Over the last 10 seasons (It'll be 11 in September) Gen-TV has made billions of dollars and produced some memorable and popular series; such as "Mallory's of Jefferson County" and "Over My Head". But which series reigns supreme? We'll answer that question as we countdown the 25 most profitable series in Gen-TV History; looking at a variety of factors including Domestic Revenue, International Revenue, Syndication and Streaming Profitability, DVD/Home Video Sales/Merchandising Sales, Emmy and Golden Globe Nominations/Wins and Overall Popularity.

Over the next several weeks we'll attempt to answer that question, in small groups until we reach #1. Here is the first batch.


25. Life's Facts: This sitcom was one of the networks first viable comedies, and starred sitcom favorites Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains), who has since disavowed the show and Gen-TV and Lisa Whelchel (The Facts of Life). Airing across four seasons (2009-2012), this comedy aimed to take a look at suburban life from a conservative point of view. After a couple seasons of solid comedy Kirk Cameron took over the creative reins of the show and it devolved into a right-wing mess that alienated viewers and drove ratings down. It did well in syndication for a few seasons (2011-2014) but was pulled after one contract cycle ended in 2014. Aside from a short appearance on Hulu in 2013 and a long out of print season one DVD release in 2012, the series hasn't had much of a shelf life in the USA.

Internationally, it sold well during its original run airing in over 25 countries including most of Europe, the United Kingdom, Canada and most Asian countries (except China). It currently airs in only 13 countries as most contracts for the show were not renewed beyond 2016.

Overall Profit for Gen-TV: 104.8 million


24. Something Old, Something New: Another sitcom that aired four seasons during Gen-TV's formative years (2009-2012); this comedy starred sitcom veteran Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) alongside Rena Sofer (General Hospital), Melissa Peterman (Reba) and a young Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place). McCormack starred as a soon to be married New Yorker who finds out that he has a 15 year old daughter he never knew about when his college girlfriend shows up unannounced.

The series was surprisingly popular during its inaugural run and ended it's final season with 18.5 million viewers. The series was cancelled at the time due to creative reasons and internal politics at Gen-TV; as a new regime took over and wanted to create their own programs.


This show has fared very well in syndication, becoming the #4 comedy in second run syndication in 2013 and airing on multiple networks since. Including eight years on Lifetime (2010-2018) and six on TV Land (2014-2019). It has also aired sporadically on TBS, Pop TV and E. It currently airs on Hulu, Amazon Prime, Stream-ME and CW Owned and Operated Stations nationwide. The entire series was released on DVD and Blu-Ray between 2013 and 2015 and re released in 2017.

Internationally this series hasn't fared so well; airing only in Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland. A 2014 NY Times Article explained "The series comes across as "too american" for most international audiences and seems to put off international buyers due to it's excessive sexual innuendo and references to American popular culture."


Overall Profits: 114.8 million


23. County General: This drama aired for four seasons (2009-2012) and was the among Gen-TV's first popular drama series. Produced by David E. Kelley it was a serious and yet, zany look at a Boston hospital. Among the cast were Geena Davis, Tim Matheson, Neve Campbell, Linda Blair, Mekhi Phifer, Justin Hartley (before This Is Us fame) and Sela Ward.

At the time it was a top ten series and an awards magnet; generating Emmy and Golden Globe nominations every season.


It has fared well on DVD and Streaming; with the entire series released on DVD and Blu-Ray between 2010 and 2014. It has appeared on Netflix, Amazon Prime and Stream-Me and aired in syndication since 2011. It aired on Lifetime from 2011-2014 and has aired on Pop TV since 2016.

Internationally it has had mass appeal; airing in nearly 70 countries. In Switzerland it has ranked as the #1 most popular non-Swiss series ever and is considered a "classic" in that country.

Overall Profits: 125.9 million


22. Abducted: Airing across six seasons (2012-2015) this drama series starred Emmy and Oscar Winner Christine Lahti (Chicago Hope) and Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us) as police detectives working kidnapping and abduction cases. The main serial element involved the abduction of Lahti's characters daughter; which she strives to solve.

Lahti and Ventimiglia both earned nominations from Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG for their work. The series was a popular mainstay on Gen-TV and earned heaps of critical praise.

It has maintained a solid following internationally and airs in 50 countries across the world; and as far away as Dubai. It has sold well on DVD where it's first three seasons are available (released between 2012 and 2014) and the final three scheduled for release in 2020.

In syndication it was a success when it debuted and ranked among the top 40 most-watched second-run shows for several seasons. Currently it airs only on GetTV and Stream-Me.


Overall Profits: 128.78 million


21. Boyfriends: This extremely popular sitcom ran for six seasons between 2010 and 2012. It was a massive success during those years; consistently ranking in the top 5 shows on TV and earning critical acclaim. A highly-watched reunion film in May 2018 garnered record breaking numbers.

This show has remained very popular in syndication, where it debuted in Fall 2014 and has remained ever since. It has aired on TBS, Lifetime, CMT, E, Pop TV and diginets Get TV, ME TV and Antenna TV. It has aired on Hulu; Netflix, Amazon Prime and Stream-ME.

The entire six season run was released on DVD and Blu-Ray between 2012 and 2015 and it has sold well internationally; mostly in European countries and Canada.

20. This Time Around: This popular serial drama aired for four seasons and earned critical acclaim for Gen-TV. Often credited as being Gen-TV's first "serious show" it won numerous awards. It was a top 5 hit for it's first two seasons before falling out of the top 20 in it's last two seasons.

It has sold well on DVD and it's season 1 DVD set ranks in the top 100 TV on DVD sets of all-time. Internationally this show has done extremely well airing in 80% of the world and constantly ranking as one of the most popular US Drama's abroad. It remained in syndication as a top 3 hit until 2016 when Gen-TV pulled it from local syndication and moved it exclusively to Stream-ME.

19. TIE: Two series tie for nineteenth place among the most profitable shows in Gen-TV history; both earning approximately the same amount of money.

First up, the older of the two series:

"Hot Tamales": Although it's easy to forget, this series which aired for five seasons between 2009 and 2011 was once insanely popular. So popular in fact that it is often considered to be Gen-TV's first break-out comedy series. Though ratings (and certainly critical support) died down in later seasons as frequent cast changed affected the quality of the series.

It's also easy to forget that this series once averaged over 18 million viewers per episode; and at the height of it's popularity earned its stars a salary of over a million dollars per episode. The show was a popular spot for A-List guest stars as well and perhaps the most impressive was a two-episode arch featuring Whitney Houston which aired as the season finale for the series inaugural season.

The series did very well in syndication; and for a time in 2014 was the #1 rated comedy in second-run. It aired on multiple networks from 2014-2016 and was then pulled from syndication and has aired exclusively on Stream-ME since 2017. It has sold well on DVD; with all seasons available and having been released between 2013 and 2016.

The show has huge international appeal and airs in over 60 countries where it remains a big hit.

Overall Profits: 155.96 million


Tied with "Hot Tamales" is another iconic Gen-TV series; "The Huntress".

"The Huntress": Like "Hot Tamales" this show aired for five seasons on Gen-TV ending it's run in 2013. It was a action-drama about a tough as nails bounty hunter that starred Shannen Doherty in the title role. It was a massive success, and for a time was the networks most popular drama series. It had a lot of fans and was even picked for a critics choice award during its first season as "Outstanding Drama."

The series eventually ended when ratings began to slip and the network lost faith in the ability of its producers to craft storylines that were fresh and new.

In syndication the series was and remains a solid and true hit. It landed a huge syndication deal with A&E TV that earned the network nearly four million dollar in it's first two-years alone. After the contract for that deal expired in 2016, the series has aired on GetTV, SyFy and USA. It also streams on Amazon Prime and Sony Crackle. It is the #1 most popular drama on Sony Crackle and in the top 50 on Amazon Prime.

It sells well internationally and is among the top 10 American television series in Europe and in Japan it is among the most popular television series ever; with a devoted fan following and a yearly Comic-Con like festival held every October.

18. Doctor/Patient: Airing for four seasons (2009-2012) this comedy series went out on top with it's final season averaging 23.3 million viewers and was Gen-TV's second most-watched sitcom of the season (after "Over My Head" which averaged 36.5 million for its third season). It may seem like a lifetime ago, but this series was once considered a landmark comedy and became something of a signature series for Gen-TV, who made many programming decisions trying to emulate the success of this show.

It ended its run in 2012 after four seasons due to a combination of financial reasons (production costs rising, showing no signs of decreasing) and creative struggles (writers felt they had no ideas left and the story had come to a conclusion.) It entered syndication in 2014 and was an instant success; airing on Lifetime, Oxygen, WE, E, TVLand, Nick@Nite, TBS, USA and Bravo over various time periods. It was always a success in second-run, and remained available until 2016 when Gen-TV moved it exclusively to Stream-Me.

It has sold well on DVD and streamed on Netflix and Hulu until 2016. Internationally it has been a solid performer, with runs overseas in various countries starting in 2015. It currently airs in over 68 countries.

17: Clue: Launched in 2009 and running until 2015, this game show was an early success for Gen-TV Studios syndication arm. It brought a lot of publicity and massive ratings for what was at the time, a relatively new studio. Coupled with celebrity participants playing the characters of the classic board game, this fun and lively series was an immediate hit. So successful in fact that it eventually launched a spin-off series "Super Clue" that ran briefly on Gen-TV Networks primetime schedule.

Around the world "Clue" was a big success, airing at its peak in more than 50 countries and being the #1 American game show in the UK for four seasons straight. Game shows obviously have limited appeal on DVD, so it hasn't generated much profits from that except a few "Best of Clue" sets released in 2012 that generated a decent profit. On Streaming, classic episodes of the series have aired on Stream-ME since 2018 and select episodes have been available on Amazon Prime since 2016.

Overall, Clue has been a very successful series for Gen-TV Studios, generating a massive profit.

16. Deidre Hall: Launching in 2009 and ending in 2013, this daytime talk show was an immediate triumph for Gen-TV. Starring the popular star of soap opera "Days of Our Lives" while she was on a hiatus from the series, this topical series mixed social issues with light general interest in a format that grabbed viewers in droves. It's 2009 debut episode drew over six million viewers and set a record at the time for the highest debut of a talk show, topping the record set in 1996 by "The Rosie O'Donnell Show". Later in 2009, the series achieved another milestone when it became the first talk show in history to dethrone "The Oprah Winfrey Show" as the #1 rated talker in the country when it reached 40.0 million viewers.

The success of this talk show helped launch Gen-TV's daytime schedule which was struggling at that point and relied heavily on reruns of sitcoms and old soap operas. By 2012 however, Hall grew tired of the format, viewers began to drift away and Gen-TV management experienced sudden turn-over and support for the show began to wain away as they attempted (and often failed) to launch similar talk shows. Speaking on the series rocky final few seasons, Hall reflected in a 2014 article for the Hollywood Now saying "After we topped Oprah it seemed that our support within Gen-TV diminished. We had reached the top and had nowhere left to go. Suddenly, development for Gen-TV was based on finding talk shows that would replicate our format and often failed to do so with any sort of artistry." Touche, in the years following her, Gen-TV launched several talk shows featuring daytime soap stars including Susan Lucci, Lisa Rinna and Jackie Zeman; but not had the long-lasting success of "Deidre Hall".

Internationally, this show was one of the few (alongside Oprah, Jerry Springer, Maury Povich and Rosie O'Donnell) to find lasting success. In Germany it remains the most-watched American program ever, after "Baywatch" and "Melrose Place." In France, it aired to such acclaim that in November 2016, they declared every March 2nd as "Deidre Hall Day" a national holiday in which French people (mostly men for some reason) call out of work and watch reruns of the show.

It has had a fantastic shelf life after it's run with reruns airing on Lifetime from 2010 until 2015 and on Oxygen from 2015 until 2016. In 2016, it reruns moved exclusively to Stream-ME and aired until 2018. It was the #10th rated series on Stream-ME for the entirety of it's run there. in 2011 Gen-TV Studios released four "Best Of" boxed sets featuring over 70 episodes of the show and all of them remained best-sellers throughout 2012 and 2013.

--Gen-TV's Most Profitable Show Ever?

This past summer Hollywood Now started counting down Gen-TV's most profitable shows ever, leading up to our big reveal of the #1 most profitable show in Gen-TV history. Due to breaking world events we never finished publishing the remainder of the list.

Here now, is the next chapter of that list, albeit in an abbreviated form than originally intended.

15. Detective Mom: Airing for 8 seasons between 2012 and 2016, "Detective Mom" was an out of the box success and a huge surprise for Gen-TV. The series instantly clicked with viewers in an unexpected way and became a much more successful show than its premise or execution deserved. Over the course of eight seasons it managed to become Gen-TV's #2 comedy series (often narrowly being defeated by "Over My Head.") It was named Top Comedy by AFI twice and was voted Best Comedy by the Television Critics Association twice.

Among female viewers; aged 21-30 it was Gen-TV's top-rated comedy four years consecutively, easily trumping "Over My Head."

Internationally it had great success, airing in over 30 countries and becoming a top-rated program in 15 of those. It has had a strong shelf life in syndication where it continues to air on local stations daily in the US; and remains a favorite with cable networks. It currently airs on no less than 7 cable or streaming services in the US.

It sold well on DVD and Blu-Ray as well; with the entire series being released between 2015 and 2016.

14. Selling Out: Oddly enough, this series which was just cancelled by Gen-TV and hasn't even entered syndication yet has remarkably generated an absurd amount of money for Gen-TV. ---Best of TV Awards Coming

The 2020 Best of TV Awards are coming soon. Honoring the absolute best that television had to offer in 2019, this years ceremony will be held in New York City at the historic Madison Square Garden. The iconic sports and concert arena will be transformed into a glorious Hollywood Awards show!

This year the ceremony is being hosted by ten iconic television personalities; each presenting different sections of the show: Courteney Cox ("Friends") will host the "Comedy" portion of the show; in which awards on the comedy categories will be presented. Anthony Edwards ("ER"), Claire Danes ("Homeland") and Jill Hennessy ("Law & Order", "Crossing Jordan") will host the "Drama" portion of the show, which presents the awards in the drama series categories. Presenting the "Reality & Unscripted" portion of the evening; in which awards are given out for reality series, news programs and other unscripted programming will be Veteran Journalist Meredith Vieira ("The Today Show", "The View"), noted reality show host Jeff Probst ("Survivor") and morning show, reality host and actor Mario Lopez ("Extra", "Access Hollywood" and "Saved By The Bell").

Presenting the "Limited Series, Movie & Mini-Series" categories will be Julianna Margulies ("The Good Wife", "ER"), Maggie Gyllenhaal ("An Honourable Woman"; Gen-TV's "The Ambassador General") and Zachary Quinto ("Heroes").

The ceremony will take place on Sunday, January 26th and this year will be broadcast on Gen-TV Network and Starz. In the USA and Mexico it will also air in Spanish on Telemundo. In Canada, it will air on both Gen-TV Canada (in English) and on Unis TV (in French). It will air in the UK on SkyTV.

The Creative & Technical portion of the ceremony (honoring trade, crafts and non-creative categories) will be presented on Saturday, January 25th and will be streamed online at Stream-Me. Portions of that ceremony will be shown on the main ceremony as well. During the main ceremony on Sunday a recap of these awards will be presented by Connie Britton ("Dirty John", "Nashville") and Michael Ealy ("Stumptown").

A new feature this year will be the first ever Best of TV Lifetime Achievement Awards for Performance and Series. The Performance Award, given to a Iconic and Legendary TV Performer is being given to Betty White ("The Mary Tyler Moore Show", "The Golden Girls" and "Hot In Cleveland." While, the Series Award; given to an iconic and legendary series is being given to "E.R."

For the series award presentation, Gen-TV is reuniting select cast members from the series fifteen year run. Confirmed to be attending are Noah Wyle, Julianna Margulies, Sherry Stringfield, Gloria Reuben, Laura Innes, Alex Kingston, Eriq Lasalle, Maura Tierney, David Lyons, John Stamos, William H Macy, Mariska Hargitay. And no, so far, George Clooney has not been confirmed. A Gen-TV spokesperson says "We are working tirelessly to round up as many ER cast members as we can, but so far George has not been available to attend the ceremony."

The Best of TV Awards honors all of the best television programming from the previous calendar year. Any program that aired at least five episodes in the year 2019 is eligible to compete. Nominations will be announced later this month.


Nominations for this prestigious award, which unlike other awards bodies is happy to honor broadcast TV are competitive and in recent years Gen-TV has been the leader in terms of nominations and wins will be announced later this month.

---Golden Globes Honor Gen-TV; Snubs Other Broadcasters

Gen-TV Network made Golden Globes History this year, being the only major broadcast network (other than a cable or streaming service) to be honored with nominations at the Golden Globe Awards. The nominees this year were made up exclusively of shows on cable and streaming services, shutting out all of the broadcast networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, CW and YTN.

Among the nominees for Gen-TV were sophomore comedies "Kate & Ali", which snagged four nominations; including Best TV Series-Musical or Comedy and Best Lead Actor-Musical or Comedy for Keegan-Michael Key. "Ready To Wear" also snagged nods for Best TV Series-Musical or Comedy and nominations for both Zooey Deschanel and Wendie Mallick in Best Lead Actress---Musical or Comedy Series.

Despite falling ratings and being cast off the networks schedule and sidelined to Stream-ME, the Gen-TV streaming site, "Selling Out" also scored major nominations for Best Lead Actress-Musical or Comedy for Tina Fey and Octavia Spencer. Lastly, the final season of Gen-TV's signature comedy "Making It Work" received four nominations as well.

After making history, becoming the only broadcast network nominated at the Golden Globe Awards this year; Gen-TV made history again becoming the only broadcast network to WIN any this year; and actually swept the ceremony taking home a startling 50 total awards this year. Gen-TV mad a full and clean sweep of the Golden Globes, winning every single award this year and shocking the industry when it has become traditional for cable and streaming outlets to win all the major awards.

Gen-TV's racially inclusive reboot of the 1980's classic "Kate & Allie" now called "Kate & Ali" won the GG for Outstanding Comedy Series; beating out a string of streaming and premium series and two Gen-TV series; "Ready To Wear" and "Selling Out." Executive Producer Keegan-Michael Key was stunned when the winner was announced and gave an impassioned speech in which he implored "the leaders of our country to remember that underneath the skin we are all flesh and blood and we are all human and we are all deserving of a place in this world where we feel safe, we feel heard and we are equal." His speech earned him a standing ovation and has already been trending online where it has gone viral, emassing over 2 million views.

The popular reboot has already earned awards from the Writers Guild of America; A Peabody Award; The Humanitas Award and the AFI Award for Best Comedy; as well as several awards from the Television Critics Association.

--Board Election Heating Up
---The Skinny on Who Is Running

Gen-TV's Board of Directors Election is heating up, with all potential candidates now having fully confirmed their intentions on running. It's been a crazy month as we've learned who is and who is not running for President of Gen-Tv's Board of Directors.

Who Is NOT Running:

First up, since Margo Danbury has been named President of Gen-TV Studios she is not running for President of the Board of Directors. "According to Gen-TV bylaws, the sitting President of the Entertainment Division is not allowed to run for the role of Board of Directors President. It would be a conflict of interest" says Maxine Smith, the current Executive Assistant for the Board President.

Also out is Jake Hawking, the former Vice President of the Board who has run for President twice and lost twice. He announced he will not run this year. Obviously, Eva Vargas is also out, as she is serving the remainder of her prison term.


Who IS Running:

Two former Presidents of Gen-TV's Entertainment Division have announced they will run for Board President. Ross Chin (March-September 2017) has announced he will run saying "My brief term as President of Gen-TV in 2017 was an incredible year and taught me a lot about what kind of leader I am, what kind of leader I want to be and what kind of company I want Gen-TV to be. I plan to bring professionalism, integrity and accountability to the board of directors."

Also running is, Dylan Garrettson (February-April 2019) who briefly served as President of the Entertainment Division this year. He said "My passion for the television industry is unmatched and my passion for Gen-TV is the only thing that comes close to touching that passion." "I believe I am the right choice for this role in many ways."

Three other people have announced they will run for President of the Board of Directors. Maxine Smith has announced she will run for President, and so has Ted Davis, who is currently the Executive Treasurer for the Board of Directors.

Lastly, a former Vice President of Gen-TV's Entertainment Division has announced their intention to run as well; Benny Portman (February-April 2019) who served under Dylan Garrettson has declared he will run for Board President.

The official election will take place in February 2020, with the top two candidates squaring off in front of the full board of directors and giving a detailed presentation about why they should win. 270 of the 325 Board Members will be allowed to vote, and votes will be tabulated strictly on a "Yes/No" format. "The candidate who receives the majority of the "Yes" votes wins." "In the event of a tie or no candidate having a clear majority of the "Yes" votes, then the remaining 55 board members (mostly comprised of the Executive Board Members and various other high-profile members) will cast their votes and their votes will be added to the previous total, to decide the winner."

But before that happens, they must decide which of the candidates will win nominations to run for President. Of the current crop, only three will win a nomination and be permitted to move forward to the next phase, which is the January pre-election vote. In order to move to that phase, all current Gen-TV Employees (regardless of board status) will vote and the top three vote getters will move to the January election. In January, another round of balloting occurs, narrowing the top three down to the top two who will present to the board in February.

Eva Vargas Announces Bid for President

Eva Vargas has been a free woman for just over a month now and has some big news; she has announced her candidacy for the soon to be vacant seat of President of Gen-TV's Board of Directors. She joins an expansive list of candidates running for this position and is a surprising addition to this race. A month ago she was serving a lengthy prison term and was viewed as a disgraced former executive; now she has been released from prison and a federal judge is reviewing an appeal that could actually overturn her entire conviction and even potentially dismiss all charges against her completely.

She is now viewed as a candidate who may have been wronged and may deserve a second chance. The truth is she shakes up this race in big ways; as she is easily the most well known person running and is very popular at Gen-TV. Only time will tell how much impact she has on the race and only time will tell how possible it is for her to win.

Election 2020 News:
--1 Month Away

With just over a month until Gen-TV votes in its new Board of Directors; the election cycle is in full swing and there have been some big developments.

The biggest news was Eva Vargas entering the race and she was viewed at the onset as a disrupter in this race. However, her candidacy has proven to be a non-starter and it seems that sentiments and votes are swinging away from her and in the favor of a different candidate; Benny Portman who has been leading all the recent polls by nearly a 30% margin over second-place choice Ross Chin.

Polls have been conducted by Hollywood Insider and Hollywood Now where we asked members of the Gen-TV Board to select which candidate they intend to vote for and Portman has the lead with 60% of the respondents indicating they would vote for him. Ross Chin is in second place with 22% saying they intended to vote for him. Eva is actually in fourth place with only 11% of the respondents claiming her as their top choice. Of course these polls are hardly scientific and voting members could go any number of different directions.

This years election is proving to be far more low-key than the 2016 election which ended up having two candidates charged on felony voter tampering charges and had the FBI called in to investigate threats levied against one candidate from another.
