Mello Yello Days Of Thunder promotional commercial? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

To honor the release of the movie Days Of Thunder in 1990 Mello Yello had a commercial that features clips from Days Of Thunder featuring the famous Mello Yello #51 stock car that Tom Cruise's character Cole Trickle drove in Days Of Thunder and there are two versions of this commercial that exist and the first commercial promoted a contest. Interestingly Mello Yello became an actual sponsor for NASCAR and had Kyle Petty as driver for their race team in the 90's. I thought Mello Yello was a fictional soda and sponsor that was just made for Days Of Thunder until I drank it and I didn't even know that Mello Yello was a real soda. This commercial seemed like a smart idea for Mello Yello to promote Days Of Thunder because it is a great Tom Cruise movie

Hi, Bestie! I remember that commercial. Days of Thunder is one of my favorite Cruise movies. Do you think his character "Cole Trickle" was named after the real racer, "Dick Trickle"? I think so.
