Every year I keep seeing The Elf On The Shelf figurines and I have been wondering what the big holiday hype is about The Elf On The Shelf? From what I've read The Elf On The Shelf is supposed to keep an eye on kids by having parents move the elf figure to different rooms of the house but if kids touch the elf it's "magic" will disappear and every night the elf "reports" the kids behavior to Santa Claus and when Christmas comes the elf "brings" the presents if the kids do good. I seem to think that this is the start of a new Christmas tradition that families are doing replacing the traditional Christmas and Santa Claus. And there is also a birthday version of The Elf On The Shelf as well
How did these figurines get so huge every year?

i never under stood it either!! i think my cousins did it one time when they were little!! it kind of gets you into trouble so you can be good in time for christmas!! i never under stood the whole concept!!
