Ray Romano Looks Back on "Everybody Loves Raymond" - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Ray Romano is the first to admit that “there is a large portion of the public who still just know me from” his breakthrough role as Raymond Barone on his self-titled CBS sitcom.

Although Romano has returned to TV for various roles over the years (Men of a Certain Age, Vinyl, Get Shorty), he’s insistent on not returning to sitcoms: “I don’t want to have to follow that.”

“I like that it still holds up. It still resonates,” Romano says.

“People see themselves in it, even though times change. It’s funny because it could look dated, because just technology-wise, everything is different. But I think the emotion of it is very relatable. I’m proud of it. The secret was just writing about things that relate to us, and that’s half the battle. When people can relate to it and see themselves, then the comedy is much easier.”

Everybody Loves Raymond was a wonderful show and everyone sparkled on it. Ray should be proud and it’s nice to see his gratitude. So much better than hearing an actor b##ch about a former hit show that has made them millionaires. Especially when 99.99% of talented show people struggle for years to just even get a bit part.

I would like to know if Ray Romano really knows how to play the piano. I love watching him "Love Story" at the end of that one episode.

P.S. I can play the piano a little bit, but I am most definitely out of practice because its been years since the last time that I sat down in front of one.
