Default Well I was offered a job but many questions

So in October I went for an interview for a drug counselor position after I passed the state exam to be a counselor. I had bad vibes at the interview but figured I'd never hear again and didn't care. A week later I got an email telling me I was offered the job, and all these papers to fill out and a drug test to take (they paid). The papers were all about background checking and they included the job description and pay but nothing else. I emailed the hr person about benefits and she said they would be discussed after I started. I've always gotten this information upfront, never before taking a job. I found the responsibilities online and some don't seem to be counselor related, like dealing with money. That's never a counselor job. I filled out the papers anyway and received a second set of paperwork about prison, asking if I've been in prison, etc. I then remembered them saying they work with recently released inmates and some are violent. I fill them out and they asked for references. They informed me last week the paperwork was sent downstate.

Honestly this sounds fishy to me. I've always been told benefits upfront in writing. Also, I have never been hired a week later. Third, the company has poor reviews, which scares me. I need money so until something comes up, I am stuck but have bad vibes. The pay isn't that bad if there are benefits but if not, it's not good at all either.

^^^ This sounds rather suspicious.

Yeah it really does, who does that? Every job I was offered told me benefits. I suspect there are no benefits.

Exactly. Any interview I ever had informed me about benefits before hiring. I don't get these people you're dealing with. But you say the pay is good? So you might consider taking the job even if there's no benefits? Still, the HR person should have informed you so you can make an informed decision.

he pay's not good, it's so so. It's more than minimum wage but not that much. With benefits the pay is okay but if I have to pay for medical then it's not much at all. As of now I am taking it until something better comes along.
