Can't remember his name but he went to party with his fellow marines. He went in to get his wallet after a fight broke out. As someone who has served, this case has always bothered me. If my fellow marine was going back in to get a wallet, either we all would have gone back in or if it was really a bad idea we wouldn't have let him go back in under those circumstances. Most likely would have come back the next day for the wallet after things were calm. Last, it bothers me they all left and didnt come back unril 5 minutes later. No way would I leave a fellow marine or anyone i went to the party with alone even if it meant me getting beat up also or worse. I would have taken a bullet each tour in Iraq to save someone or help someone else. Was I scared? Sure, but I wouldn't leave my buddy no matter what
I realize in the civilian world you can make choices you can't always make in combat, but at least make sure you look out for your buddy. They at least could have kept him from going back in |

I believe his friends didn't realize they were leaving him behind because they were eager to get away from the violence (and since this was a party, perhaps there had been some drinking?). I'm sure they definitely regretted leaving him behind considering what happened. |
