Eek Peggy Rea as Mrs. Masters

I saw a young Peggy Rea on Hazel just now! She went on to be Cousin Bertha & Martha Birkhorn on All In The Family & Rose Burton on The Waltons.

Love Peggy Rea, she’s the kind of mom that would bake you all kinds of goodies!

Don't you mean the kind of mom who would bake HERSELF all kinds of goodies (then give a tiny portion to the rest of her family)?

Well, Miss Rea was an amazing and prolific character actress- and, despite being significantly overweight for most if not all her adult life, actually lived to 89 and would perform into her mid 70s!

!
God I hope she isn’t that kind of mom! I always envisioned her on screen persona like that of Rose Burton on The Walton’s. In my experience the plump mom’s were the best cooks, & there was always food & snacks around for us kids, but sadly there are probably the other kind too. I like to think of Peggy as the good kind!

I know!! One of my Grandmothers was a really big lady like Peggy , she was such a sweetheart!, a very fun, jolly lady ! And she did love to feed people! Actually most of the woman in my family weren't/ aren't exactly small and as I get older I'm getting up there in weight too, unfortunately loving to eat and being heavy is bad on the health so I have to watch out and not get any bigger ! I have the kind of Husband who doesn't mind chubby, most of the woman in his family are also on the big side too, but as I said have to try to keep the weight down for health reasons !!

I loved Peggy Rea, she also played Grandma Romano's friend Emily on One day at a time !

I didn't watch all those other shows (other than Hazel) but I did watch Dukes of Hazzard and Peggy played Boss Hogg's wife.

Wow! Seems like Peggy was all over the place, what a time to be a character actress—50s, 60s, & 70s, truly television’s golden age.

She also had a small part on The Golden Girls as a matchmaker Sophia hired to find dates for Dorothy.
