Iv'e read a couple of posts claiming that Gary Coleman for some reason or another didn't like Dixie Carter, and he was even responsible for her leaving the show. If this is true do any of you know the reason why he didn't like her? By watching her on the show she seemed like a nice person and so I can't understand why Gary would dislike her. If any of you can give me some info on this i'd appreciate it!

Maybe because he had been the star (yes it was an ensemble show, but he was really the biggest star) for 6 seasons and here they bring in this other major cast member. Perhaps since they added another cast member, he was being paid less per episode. Let's be honest they only had so much money too pay out per episode and when you're paying these additional people, Gary would be making less. Some shows cast are so used to working together for so long, it would only be natural for them maybe not to get along so well with a new person.

If that is the case, people get too hung up on money. It's too bad things did not work out for Dixie. I wonder I MaryAnne Mobley was getting paid less.

If Gary was so upset at Dixie because she took away from his salary, then what would have been the point of firing her if they were just going to hire a new Maggie the next season? Wouldn't he have the same problem with the new Maggie? Unless they gave her the role for much less money I don't see what the point of firing Dixie was just to get a new person on the salary. You may be right, but I just don't see how replacing one Maggie for another would make a difference.

My question is how would he have known they were going to replace her with another Maggie? They very easily could have just written her out of the show as Mary Ann Mobley wasn't even in all the episodes the final season. Who knows how he felt about Mary Ann Mobley, we can only speculate...

There were quite a few signs that they didn't get on. For example, they never seemed to hug yet I think Arnold did with MaryAnn.
And in the episode that Gary came up with the story for, she never appeared. |

You know, this topic has been brought up numerous times on the board and I wish it was one of the topics that the E! True Hollywood Story mentioned. Look at the two Darrin's on Bewitched, they mentioned that in the E! True Hollywood Story for Bewitched. They should've touched the subject for the 2 Maggie's on the show.

I didn't see the whole E True Hollywood Story, but I saw the last hour and a half about a week ago and there was no mention of Dixie Carter. As a matter of fact hardly anything was mentioned about D.S. Basically the whole show just focused on the negativity in the lives of Gary, Todd, and Dana, after the show went off the air. As many have mentioned here before it was quite depressing actually. It seemed like more of an extremely negative Celebrity Profile then a behind the scenes look of the show. I wish E would do a new D.S. Hollywood Story, and just stick to the show.

The other true Hollywood Stories I've seen didn't do that, so I don't know why they did. |

The E! show was not like the average E! show for a classic TV show. It was supposed to be about the cast's problems.
