Hokey smoke! Moose and Squirrel turns 60. On November 19, 1959, Rocky and His Friends debuted on ABC following American Bandstand. It was a very funny cartoon that appealed to adults as well as children and I have been a fan of the show since the mid 60s growing up in New Jersey.
In addition to the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons, there was Fractured Fairy Tales, narrated by Edward Everett Horton, Peabody's Improbable History as well as Bullwinkle's Corner and Mr. Know it All. In later episodes, there was Aesop and Son and Dudley Do-Right. One thing I always remember about Rocky and Bullwinkle is that Boris Badenov never referred to the title characters by their name. He always called them "Moose and Squirrel." Happy 60th anniversary to one of the funniest cartoons of all time. |

One line Rocky frequently said was "Now here's something we hope you'll really like."

Rocky and Bullwinkle should be played on either MeTV or Antenna TV.
this show even used popular culture and poked-fun at The Cold War.... |

I first saw "The Bullwinkle Show" in 1963-64 when it was on NBC's Saturday morning lineup.
