We all know how convenient taking a car or bus is. However, they are not very environmentally friendly. You'd think by now we'd have a more efficient, cheaper, and safer way of traveling right?
I propose the idea of building a tube - like system that would be capable of transporting us throughout our city, but to other cities as well. Here's how can work : We'd build a system that would connect to various buildings, allowing the tubes to be fully in the air. Each tube would have a fee of no more than $5, depending on your destination. As you enter the tube, you will be given a chance to select your destination. Say if your trip begins in Seattle and ends In LA. You'd only be able to choose destinations along that specific route (Portland or San Francisco, for example) As for the trip itself, it would be a quick trip. As you begin your journey, the computer operated tubes would gradually accelerate you to very high speeds. Accelerating too fast could result in fainting. I have a fun possibility as to how your trip would end. As you approach your destination, the computer will gradually decrease your speed until you are below 5 mph. At the end of each tube would be like a slide. The tubes themselves would be see-through, so you'd be able to see the surroundings as you passed by. The tube would run every 3 minutes as to prevent collisions at the end. You know how much money we'd save by using this transportation method? The earth would be a lot more due to no pollution emitted from this. I know it sounds out of this world, but this is an interesting thing to consider. |

Having tubes in the air would give it a futuristic vibe but engineering and/or cost limitations would probably force it to be built underground. Like a high speed subway. I have heard a few proposals similar to this but I don't think any have been built yet.
Interesting idea though |
