I've seen him do this with Esther and Julio where Fred is badmouthing them and Lamont says, "He didn't mean that."

It's sort of laughable considering Fred treated him no different that anyone else and that fact Lamont had to grow up putting up with him you gotta wonder especially since his mom died I'm pretty sure long before he became an adult.

In the episode where Lamont have headaches and goes see a psychologist, doctor told Lamont that cause of his headaches is because he hate his own father.

So Fred ask Grady what did he do wrong for Lamont to hate him. And Grady said because you are rotten to the core
