I think it is a bit cute, I have it on unofficial dvd in excellent quality but minus "The Saturday Superstar Movie" opening which it aired on ABC originally and then became part of lost TV, the other celebrity driven one-off one hour cartoon "specials" should be resurrected and aired again.
I believe there are rights issues involved, as many different studios produced cartoons for the series, such as Rankin-bass, Hanna-Barbera, etc. Marlo Thomas and Shout Factory tried to have "That Girl In Wonderland" as a special feature on the "That Girl" DVD set, but costs were too prohibitive. Too bad that greed overshadows broadcasting programs and alike as these rare series/specials will forever remain "buried and lost" instead of getting exposure, no matter how little, better to be seen than lost and forgotten! But back to the thread point, anyone interested google "ABC Saturday Superstar Movie" ran on Saturday mornings in early 1970's at 9:30AM in New York if I remember correctly for two seasons, some very rare unique cartoon productions. |

I just watched this yesterday. I found it kind of neat, esp. with Marlo's voice still sounding young and as bubbly as she did on the TV series. I only wish they had used Ted Bessell for Donald's voice. Was happy though they included the Donald Holinger character still and didn't replace him with a new character acting as Ann's boyfriend. Many times these "reunion" cartoons would practically re-write the cast of the original, see the 1973 Lost In Space cartoon also of these ABC special "Movie" toons of the week. Only Dr. Smith remained untouched. It's also on Utube. ABC of '73 also did cartoon versions of Lassie and Yogi Bear. Luckily the original voices of those toon characters were still alive to voice them. Very interesting to me was the Fruity Pebbles ad you see in the That Girl cartoon, it sounds like Alan Reed the real Fred Flintstone voice! I never quite got used to the replacement Fred voices used after Alan's.
