Not to long ago, I posted about the 30th anniversary of NBC's final Saturday afternoon Game of the Week telecast (Toronto vs. Baltimore, with the Blue Jays clinching the American League East). Well, today (October 9) officially marks 30 years since NBC Sports aired its final Major League Baseball telecast in general. Game 5 of the 1989 National League Championship Series (San Francisco vs. the Chicago Cubs). The World Series that year would air on ABC and after that, CBS would take over the network TV package for the next four years.

While NBC of course, would regain some portions of the baseball package in 1994 (first, with the ill-fated Baseball Network experiment with ABC and then postseason only telecasts from 1996-2000), this was truly the end of an era.
