As I continue my "Supermarket Sweep" of classic supermarket commercials I found a bunch of commercials for Pak 'N' Save supermarkets. Pak 'N' Save was a supermarket chain based in California but had stores in Oregon Nevada and Washington and had the most awesome commercials with the most interesting jingle/slogan "It's a whole new way of shopping at Pak 'N Save" and was a smart way of promoting the wherehouse type grocery stores. After seeing these commercials I learned more about this store and found out that Safeway's parent company brought Pak 'N' Save in 1983 but some stores are still in operation in some states and what I can never figure out is why they had a big loud tabla drum or a thundering sound effect for the logo? I found that very annoying in the commercials when I first saw them?

Hi, Bestie! I remember pak n save. I didn't like them much. I had to bag my own groceries. I heard Safeway bought them to get rid of competition. Did you hear that too?
