They were desperate to try & keep Cindy “Little Cindy” by this point, but she was wearing braces & well into puberty. Cousin Oliver appeared shortly thereafter.

Wasn't that after Oliver arrived? I thought he was in that episode.

I never really thought about how embarrassing that must have been. It must have been tough on Natalie Shaffer to keep a straight face while Cindy sang Lollipop.

This is akin to what they did to around 12 year old Jerry Mathers on the fifth season of Leave It To Beaver--making him dress up as a bunny rabbit for a school play.

The Snooperstar episode 1974, yes your right, Robbie Rist is listed as part of the cast. Season 5, they were at the end of the show practically. They were trying anything to resuscitate the show. Little did they know what they had in future syndication!

Gilligan’s Island was a memory, Sherwood must’ve called Natalie & said “Natalie dear, could you stop by Paramount & do a cute little number with our little Shirley?”

Many of the final episodes are cult classic “bad episodes we love to hate”— The Shirley Temple episode ranks quite high in this category. Be honest, who runs to the television when this airs?

It was embarrassing and all, but if that’s the worst thing in her life, then she’s lived a pretty good life.

Think of poor Anissa Jones on “Family Affair”. She was 13 years old in the last season, and they were saying she was eight years old, dressing her in little girl dresses and having her play with dolls.

I loved Family Affair! Another show that did not age well, meaning that the late seasons were constantly trying to rekindle the lost “cuteness” of their truly adorable child stars. Anissa was a doll. Too bad they didn’t take the same approach with Cissy, they should’ve kept her the way she originally appeared instead of giving her the short coiffed petulant look/attitude.

It's pretty bad. It could not have been fun at school for her. It was 1974 and this is what Sherwood was doing on his TV show. He was completely out of touch. What teen at the time would ever find this cool?

Poor Anissa Jones had to lie about her age. Have you ever seen her appearance on the Dick Cavett show and Dick tries to get her to admit her real age. She didnt do it but it was still bad.
