Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Amanda Peet & Morgan Spector to Star in HBO Period Drama "The Gilded Age"

Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Amanda Peet, and Morgan Spector will lead the cast of Julian Fellowes’ "The Gilded Age" drama series at HBO.

The project, which moved from NBC to HBO earlier this year, is a co-production between HBO and Universal TV. The fictional epic of the millionaire titans of New York City in the 1880s hails from the "Downton Abbey" team of Fellowes, producer Gareth Neame and director Michael Engler.

Emmy winner Baranski will have the rare distinction of playing leads in two premium scripted series at the same time. She continues as the star of CBS All Access’ "The Good Fight", which has been renewed for a fourth season. The schedules have been worked out so she can do both series.

Carrie Coon Joins "The Gilded Age", Replacing Amanda Peet

Carrie Coon (Fargo, The Sinner) is entering "The Gilded Age", in a pandemic-related recasting on the HBO period drama.

Coon is replacing Amanda Peet in the role of Bertha Russell, because now that "The Gilded Age‘s" start of production has been delayed from this spring to fall, due to the shutdown of production of most TV series, the latter will no longer be available.
