Default How I Would Improve the Hallmark Stations

Hallmark currently has three channels. A mostly great roster of shows on all of them, but their movies take over way too much. I would expand to four channels restructured like this: Hallmark Sitcoms, Hallmark Mysteries and Crimes, Hallmark Family Dramas, and Hallmark Movies and Originals. Hallmark Movies and Originals would be a new premium channel where people who actually like their crappy movies would pay extra to see them 24/7. Since they would make so much money from that, a condition would be forcing cable and satellite providers who want to carry the Hallmark Movies and Originals channel to carry all of the other three Hallmarks at a lesser price, part of standard packages that carry common channels like TNT, USA, TBS, FX, ESPN, the multitude of lousy news channels, etc. Comcast does not carry Hallmark Dramas (what I would rename Family Dramas) yet, and who knows when they will. I would love to see the Touched by an Angel marathon they have coming up on September 8, it looks like they rotate their show roster to have Sunday marathons. What is currently the main Hallmark channel would be rebranded as Hallmark Sitcoms. Hallmark Movies and Mysteries would be rebranded Hallmark Mysteries and Crime. Hallmark Drama would be rebranded Hallmark Family Dramas. There would still be filler movies and originals on Hallmark Sitcoms, but they would make way for the superior lineup of syndicated sitcoms to finally get showcased. And for you credit crunch haters, full closing credits would air on every show. The schedules I am making are Mondays-Fridays, weekends would have varied lineups.

Hallmark Sitcoms- What's Returning: I Love Lucy What's New: Empty Nest
6-7AM I Love Lucy
7-8AM The Golden Girls
8-10AM Home and Family
10-11AM The Middle- This is an hour Freeform would never put it since they have to air The 700 Club. Likewise at 11PM.
11AM-12PM Empty Nest
12-1PM The Golden Girls
1-4PM Cheers
4-7PM Frasier
7-10PM I Love Lucy- The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour would be included in the rotation like it should be.
10PM-12AM The Middle
12-2AM The Golden Girls
2-4AM Empty Nest
4-6AM Movie

Hallmark Mysteries and Crime- What's Returning: Monk, Psych, The Rockford Files
5-7AM Murder, She Wrote
7-9AM Columbo 2 hour episodes
9AM-12PM The Rockford Files- This poor show barely had a chance to air on the channel.
12-2PM Matlock
2-4PM Diagnosis Murder
4-6PM Psych
6-8PM Monk
8PM Columbo 90 minute episodes- Probably because of the run time, the 90 minute episodes haven't aired nearly as much as the 2 hour episodes.
9:30PM Columbo 90 minute episodes
11PM-1AM Murder, She Wrote
1-3AM Hart to Hart
3-4AM Monk
4-5AM Psych

Hallmark Family Dramas- What's Returning: 7th Heaven What's New: Eight is Enough, Highway to Heaven
5-9AM Little House on the Prairie
9AM-12PM Highway to Heaven
12-3PM 7th Heaven
3-5PM Eight is Enough
5-7PM The Waltons- Airing it here would get the INSP audience to transfer over.
7-11PM Touched by an Angel
11PM-2AM Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman
2-4AM The Waltons
4-5AM Eight is Enough

It's a faulty plan. Hallmark's focus is it's original content, but it's not HBO. It's not going to become a premium channel and then offer three channels of random content for basic cable.

For the proposed sitcoms channel, the key shows listed: I Love Lucy, Cheers, Frasier, Golden Girls can all be accessed on Hulu. Hallmark needs to try to get it's existing three channels on Hulu Live TV and You Tube TV, rather than making it's main channel a premium channel.
