I first saw it around 2011 when Antenna TV aired it in the afternoons.
I initially thought it was a bland and boring show but after getting exposed to it I soon realized what a beautiful and well-crafted series it actually is. |

I remember first watching on ABC daytime back in the 1960s. I was a kid and I think it came on during school lunchtime. I was close enough to the school that I rode my bike home for lunch.
For anyone interested in the show I'd strongly recommend the second thru sixth season DVD sets. Shout did a great job on those. The first season is also available but most of the episodes are the same as what you'd see on Antenna TV. For the subsequent seasons they found some great quality masters, and are original network length. Back in those rabbit-ear antenna days no one saw the episodes looking this good, though. |

Also in the late 80s in reruns, I also got my first exposure to “The Donna Reed Show” right around the same time. Have been an avid fan of both since. The Shout DVD collection of Father Knows Best is wonderful! These days I catch it every morning on Antenna TV right after Leave It to Beaver on MeTV. Later I watch Hazel on Antenna & Adam 12 on Cozi. Wonderful entertainment!

I started watched it about 6 months ago and it quickly became one of my favorite shows. I love the character Bud.

I'm not so old that I saw it in it's first run on the networks BUT the next best thing, I saw it as a kid in reruns in the '60's on our local TV channels. Those were the days when everyday normal broadcast channels showed great old TV shows and great old movies, you didn't have to pay for cable or have specialized channels that just focused on one type or another.

A couple of us have mentioned the Shout DVDs. All the seasons are well done by Shout, except season 1. They got the wrong masters on the majority of the episodes, which have the syndication episodes with the obvious blackout edits that go way back (the same episodes that are still shown on Antenna TV). For the season 2 thru 6 sets, Shout had been roundly criticized for the season 1 mistakes, and got complete episodes.
I was a little too young to see the original airings, but like I said above, I do remember seeing the episodes on ABC daytime. Back in the day the networks aired a lot of popular sitcom reruns daily Monday through Friday. |

When I was a kid in the 80s. I think it was on a local independent station in the morning. I liked it, but can't remember much about it. I'm planning to rewatch it on Prime this year because I watched the Christmas episode last week and it was pretty good.
