AMC Has Gone Further Downhill. - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was checking my guide seeing what is on tonight and saw Two and a Half Men listed. That is not a surprise as several channels air that dreck. But it was a shock seeing it listed on AMC. While they aren't a great channel to start with, from time to time they still have good movies. But tonight they have five hours of Two and a Half Men from 6-11. That is not their first syndicated show not an original, they have aired the much superior M*A*S*H, but not anywhere near primetime.

When it first began life as American Movie Classics AMC was once the home of classic movies that everyone loved and not only was it movie oriented but you could learn about the classic stars such as Lauren Bacall Rock Hudson Bette Davis and John Wayne through interesting facts and trivia. And with classic movies from every genre from Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much to Casablanca to An Affair To Remember to Barbra Streisand films like The Way We Were AMC knew how to attract their audience well. Even with competitor channel Turner Classic Movies launching in 1994 AMC still knew how to keep people watching. But starting in the 2000's AMC knew it was time to grow up and start catering to the new generation of movie fans and began focusing on movies from the 80's and 90's such as Footloose Flashdance Men In Black and Dances With Wolves AMC knew that this new image would gain a younger audience. But once AMC debuted Mad Men original shows were successful due to this new formula that they have currently created. But with sitcom reruns of Two And A Half Men and MASH I can see them wanting to compete with the other channels that deal with sitcoms such as METV RetroTV Laff and Antenna TV and Cozi TV and rename themselves AMC Sitcoms And More. But maybe someday AMC will return to it's classic movie roots and create a classic movie channel called AMC Favorites

I'm excited I fixed my satellite. So I can finally watch the Disney marathon on Freeform.

Prior to the 1st Half of the 2000s, AMC did its own tradition by airing classic movies just like TMC is currently doing now.

i don't liked any of the orignal amc tv shows!! i don't liked walking dead!! i don't liked any of the amc original tv series!!
