They may not make them, but I guess they still make parts for them. In the UK there are a little more than 7 thousand households that still have black and white TV's. I remember seeing a YouTube video on it some time ago, here a link to an article:

Thinking back to a little over 50 years ago, I remember the black and white TV my mom and dad used to have. It was a Zenith brand, installed on a swivel stand, it had tubes in the back and one of those old fashioned "rabbit ear" antennas. In 1971, my parents upgraded from the black and white TV and bought a color set, I remember they thought it was a big deal at the time. In those days there was no cable TV and there were only 8 or 9 channels to choose from. There was CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, and a few local/independent channels. That was it and there was never a problem finding something good to watch. Nowadays with cable TV, there are hundreds of channels to choose from but the programs are garbage on most of them.

I'm not sure about this but I seem to recall an article in one of the TV Guide's around 1967 or 68, I think the article said that much of the USA would be wired for pay/cable TV in about 15 years. Here's a photo of the TV Guide issue I was thinking of, it's from April 1968: http://www.tvguidemagazine.com/archi...413_c1_620.jpg |
