The comedy NBC picked up straight-to-series last month in which Danson plays a businessman who is unexpectedly elected Los Angeles mayor has a 30 Rock connection. Tina Fey and Robert Carlock originally pitched Baldwin on reprising his Jack Donaghy role -- but instead of chairman of General Electric, he'd be the mayor of New York City, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The comedy was supposed to be for Comcast's forthcoming streaming service. "Sources say Baldwin was in extended negotiations for the better part of a year before pulling out of the project," reports The Hollywood Reporter's Lesley Goldberg. "Writers and exec producers Fey and Carlock then went out to The Good Place star Ted Danson to take over the role. When L.A.-based Danson declined to move to New York for the part, Fey and Carlock reworked the script to set the show on the West Coast — and remove any connections it had to 30 Rock." Following the change, the untitled comedy was moved from Comcast's streaming service to NBC.
