Default Beverly Hillbillies Episodes Skipped - Me-TV

I've been collecting the Me-TV airings of "The Beverly Hillbillies," mainly S05-S09, and I've noticed something. The last time I captured these episodes, S08 E18 & E19 were skipped. It went from E17 to E20. When I checked Me-TV's schedule, these episodes are skipped once again. Is there a reason as to why these two episodes are skipped?

I don't know the answer, but when they skip episodes it usually has to do with either expired music licenses, or something that is not politically correct. On IMDb there's a mention of a harem in one episode, which sounds iffy.

I hate when they skip episodes when I'm trying to collect them from TV recordings--and, believe me, it's happened to me. I got really good copies of some skipped Disney channel episodes when they eventually (unknowingly, IMO) put them on Comcast On-Demand. CBS might eventually put them on DVD, but I think they're only up to season 5.

According to zap2it, metv will skip episodes 18 & 19 next week. I have no idea why. Both episodes are available online in various places.

It looks like PC whacko censorship strikes again. The snowflakes would undoubtedly have a crying fit in their basements if they were to see this. Here is the description of 8.18:
"After remembering how much fun he had with Gloria, Shorty tries to get out of marrying Elverna Bradshaw. To prevent the marriage for a little longer and have a little fun, Shorty tells Elverna he is having a bachelor party. Granny figures Drysdale will do it, and after Jed talks to Drysdale, Drysdale says he is, after thinking Jed wants him to. After a secretary refers to how Drysdale doesn’t properly pay the secretaries and refers to it as slavery, Drysdale decides on an Oriental Slave Auction. After learning he will be a sheik with slave girls, Shorty is excited for the party, but after seeing what the harem girls at the party will be wearing, Elverna and Granny decide to attend. The party goes on, and Shorty, Jed, and Shad have a good time. But Elverna turns up to get Shorty out. To avoid marriage, Shorty handcuffs himself to Gloria, but Shad removes the handcuffs, disappointing Shorty."

Oh my, a slave auction, how horrifying.

Wait, I swear I remember seeing an episode like that back around 2013 or so. That might've been it. I wonder when it was removed? They didn't air it in 2018, and they're not airing it now. I can't find a long plot description of E19, but IMdB says "Shorty thinks he's figured out a way to avoid marrying Elverna Bradshaw."

Every episode but those 2 have aired in the past year.

You probably did, and MeTV responded to complaints. When something has been banned, I immediately want it.

HA - yes, TV Land did a great job not only getting restored episodes, but doing a good job editing them for time. That is, TV Land of back in the day. Not the mess it is now. Thanks for the description.

A 2-parter, maybe? If the first episode wasn't appropriate, the second one might not make any sense. Famous ex-athletes in the second episode, but that shouldn't prevent it from being shown, but if it did, fans would have been left with a cliffhanger??

Who knows, no rhyme nor reason to much of the editing style or decisions not to air certain episodes.

The episode with Granny as a "harem girl" sounds rather interesting

If the only problem was the slavery reference, I'm surprised MeTV didn't just make that their edited out material.

Thanks for the clips...now I want to see these episodes, like I said!

The only thing better than Granny as a harem girl was Granny as a wrestler.
