Default The very first sitcom you ever watched

What is the very first sitcom you ever watched or remember seeing for the first time when you were a kid?

Mine would be Gilligan's Island.

I don't know the absolute first but I remember watching Seinfeld, I Love Lucy, and Gilligan's Island when I was very young.

I remember watching the Beverly Hillbillies in the 1960s on a black and white television set. We didn't watch in colour until 1974.

Cool that you were able to get American shows over in England back than. I was thinking that was more recently that TV shows could go over seas !

I don't remember anymore what was the first sitcom I ever watched, but I do remember watching repeats of The Honeymooners classic 39 episodes in the early 1970's when I lived in Chicago. WFLD-TV ran The Honeymooners during that time. That was probably the first sitcom I watched on a regular basis. I was also into Get Smart in the early 1970's, I think WSNS-TV ran repeats of those episodes during that time.

I now have the complete series of Get Smart on DVD, it's been over 10 years ago already since that came out. I also have The Honeymooners classic 39 on 13 VHS tapes, these were issued in 1988 by Columbia House.

Don't really remember. I know I watched the Beverly Hillbillies, and Green Acres when they originally aired at least their later seasons. Remember watching the Lucy Show weekday mornings.

Yep I can remember CBS running repeats of The Lucy Show on weekday mornings. I think they ran repeats of Family Affair also. And maybe The Doris Day Show too.

Yep! I remember watching The Lucy show, Family affair and they alternated between My three Sons and Beverly Hillbillies ( if I remember correctly, because I preferred My three Sons) on weekday mornings ! I totally remember this in the summer mornings ( or if I was out sick from school ) in the early 70's or even late 60's still? !! I'm not really recalling the Doris day show though in that weekday morning rerun lineup?

I know the Beverly Hillbillies aired in the morning too. That used to be my favorite show back then.

I think you're right about CBS also running repeats of Beverly Hillbillies and My Three Sons on weekday mornings. If my memory is correct, The Doris Day Show was part of that lineup too.

Was it the fall of 1972 when CBS discontinued the weekday morning block of sitcom repeats? I seem to recall that the sitcom block went away in September 1972 and replaced with a game show block with The Price Is Right and other game shows.
