What makes Eddie a bad-boy? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

You always see him as America's first bad-boy. What exactly did he do that was so bad? Does he even break the law on the show?

He mastered the talent of annoying adults and kids younger than him, certainly not a crime.

One early, nasty thing he did was teaching Beaver a Spanish phrase for Beaver to use on his Hispanic friend, telling the kid he had a face like a pig. Lousy joke, but not a crime.

One later, really bad thing he did was to alter Beaver's report card. Again, probably not a chargeable offense, but probably one where most adults would have banished him from the premises.

Other pranks were relatively harmless. Like convincing Beaver and Larry he was under their hypnotic spell, or convincing Beaver the library cop was going throw Ward in jail because Beaver didn't return a book taken out on Ward's card.

A little more harmful was convincing Beaver to accept a mail offer to be a model, which caused Beaver to visit a lawyer friend of Ward's for advice.

So that's a short summary of his misdeeds.

Meh, none of this makes him a bad boy though. I guess America had to start off small and work from there.

Compared with today's happenings, his doings were child's play.

Right like smoking in the boys’ room. Eddie was insecure and as he said in an episode if he’s first to make a guy feel like a goon “he” won’t feel like such a goon.

I just love Eddie Haskell and I never thought that could happen, but now my favorite episodes are ones that center around him.
