Happy Canada Day everyone! Today is Canada's 152nd anniversary of Confederation, the official founding of our nation (July 1, 1867). To mark the occasion, I have listed my favorite Canadian TV shows of all time in different categories:
Sitcoms - The Trouble With Tracy, King Of Kensington, Check It Out, Rent A Goalie Dramas - Being Erica, Heartland Sketch Comedy/Variety Shows - SCTV, Bizarre, Wayne and Shuster, Super Dave, The Red Green Show Reality - Battle Of The Blades Children's Shows - The Friendly Giant, Mr Dressup, Romper Room, Polka Dot Door, Uncle Bobby, The Hilarious House Of Frightenstein, Tiny Talent Time, You Can't Do That On Television, Big Comfy Couch Cartoons - Rocket Robin Hood, Spiderman, The New Adventures Of Pinocchio, Tales Of The Wizard Of Oz, Arthur Sports - Hockey Night In Canada, CFL Football, Toronto Blue Jays Baseball, Don Cherry's Grapevine Game Shows - Definition, Party Game, Headline Hunters, The Mad Dash, Deal Or No Deal Canada, Reach For The Top Actors/Comedians - Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, Howie Mandel, Michael J Fox, Leslie Nielsen, Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Wayne & Shuster Other popular series not listed that you might like: Anne Of Green Gables, Celebrity Cooks, Corner Gas, Da Vinci's Inquest, Danger Bay, The Degrassi High series of shows, Dragon's Den, Due South, Emily Of New Moon, The Forest Rangers, Fraggle Rock, Franklin, Fred Penner's Place, Front Page Challenge, The Galloping Gourmet, Hammy Hamster, Hangin' In, Just For Laughs, Kids In The Hall, Little Mosque On The Prairie, The Littlest Hobo, Schitt's Creek, Sharon, Lois, & Bram, This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Wind At My Back List Of Canadian TV series - Wikipedia |

Corner Gas and Heartland are excellent, two of the best shows ever made anywhere. I just wish Corner Gas was more popular in the US, hasn't aired anywhere since WGN dropped it over a decade ago. I also really liked Wind at My Back when INSP aired it. Check it Out! and The Border were good from the limited sampling I had (4 and 3 episodes each).

Also, Alex Trebek came from Canada. Besides his dominant Jeopardy!, Classic Concentration and Double Dare (not the Marc Summers version) are good game shows.

If you're a Corner Gas fan, then I should tell you that last year the original cast reunited to reboot the series in cartoon form. The new series is called Corner Gas: Animated. Season 2 starts this week with Michael J Fox appearing as a special guest star. Both series are seen on the Comedy Network which will become CTV Comedy on Sept. 12. Corner Gas Corner Gas: Animated |

Happy belated Canada Day to you as well! I LOVE Canada Day!! Hmm, I haven't given much thought about my favorite Canadian shows, but I do LOVE Red Green. I haven't seen that in forever! It's so hilarious! I can get CBC and I'm going to start watching it more often to see if I can check out any of their shows and also check out some other shows on DVD. Thank you for the list of shows.

Trailer Park Boys definitely! Not as good as it used to be especially with the death of Jon Dunsworth who played the lovable antagonist Jim Lahey. I can see why some wouldn’t like it for its drug and crude humor but have been a fan for about 15 years of the show and I am an American who discovered it overseas.
Now it is animated show. Just did a new season this year. I requested a Trailer Park Boys section here on this board but it didn’t happen. Not really familiar with other Canadian offerings. Kids in the Hall is Ok. There is one actor who I don’t know his name who has been in other stuff on American TV whonis pretty good. SCTV was Ok and had some great performers like Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara and the late John Candy. |

I just saw the excellent series premiere of The Disappearance. WGN America had been advertising it as one of their originals that premiered last night, but I didn't know it was from Canada until I looked for a Facebook page. The Disappearance originally aired in 2017 and stars Peter Coyote. Pilot episode is now on demand, and new to the US episodes are Tuesdays at 10:00. It won't be around long though, the entire series was just six episodes (no spoilers!).

Corner Gas. I love it and I think it's the only Canadian TV show I've ever watched. Very funny and quirky sitcom.
