Default season 5

ME TV has started showing season 5 which mean they'll be done with it by the fall...I wonder if they'll start showing the color episodes then or go back to season 1?

(coincidentally they're starting season 5 of GOMER PYLE next Monday)

To be honest I doubt it. They haven't shown the color ones since like 2014.

It used to bother me that they won't show the whole series but it probably helps their ratings by just showing the Barney years. It basically became another show once he left.

I think if its done with a little common sense the color episodes can be gently introduced into the mix maybe calling them the best of the rest. There are 90 color episodes, some aren't that bad, a few general rules:

1. Stay away from the angry Andy episodes, they are painful to watch (that means virtually no Warren episodes)

2. Be careful with the Aunt Bee does this, Aunt Bee does that group, a couple are good, the rest forget it (Aunt Bee learns to fly, Aunt Bee hosts a TV show from what we know about her these didn't make sense)

3. It goes without saying, the 5 Barney episodes have to be there. I think the first two are very good, as a matter a fact I think the reunion episode was one of the best episodes of any 60's series.

4. Don't worry about the order (season 6,7,8)

I think there should be around 30 that can be used which really isn't that bad. I did a post a few months ago, I came up with 22:

162. "Malcolm at the Crossroads"
163. "Aunt Bee, the Swinger"
176. "The Return of Barney Fife"
177. "The Legend of Barney Fife"
183. "Eat Your Heart Out"
185 "The County Clerk"
188. "The Battle of Mayberry"
197. "Politics Begin at Home"
200. "Big Fish in a Small Town"
202. "Otis the Deputy"
207. "A Visit to Barney Fife"
208. "Barney Comes to Mayberry"
211. "Floyd's Barbershop"
212. "The Statue"
216. "Howard, the Comedian"
219. "Goober's Contest"
231. "Howard and Millie"
234. "Howard's New Life"
239. "The Church Benefactors"
240. "Barney Hosts a Summit Meeting"
243. "Helen's Past"
246. "Sam for Town Council"

they started to show the color ones a couple years ago on weeknights at 6 but they stopped after just a couple weeks. (they were still showing the black and white ones at 8 and 8:30)

^ Thanks Duster76 thats alot of hard work thats appreciated. I agree some of the color eps. were actually good and can meet the AGS quality that very few other tv shows or movies ever did.

I always think of what it must've been like working on the AGS in the turbulent 1960's when just a just a few miles past the backlot gate a world of drugs, hippies and near complete social breakdown was happening. Odd how the innocence of the AGS is still being shown on numerous television channels around the entire freakin' world on a daily basis but the immorality of the same 1960's the AGS was filmed in is not the mainstream it was then.

Those B&W TAGS episodes have aired so many times on Me TV I have all the lines memorized. It's a shame Me TV no longer does "Summer of Me" where they switch up the prime time lineup a bit for the summer months. If they did, they could replace the two B&W TAGS episodes with one Color TAGS episode and one Mayberry RFD episode. That would be a nice change of pace for the summer when ratings are not as important.

MeTV was promoting the "Summer of Me" last evening during the Love Boat showing.
