I have three favorite Alice episodes. The first was when Vera tried to kill herself by taking pills. I thought Linda Lavin's performance in that one was wonderful. Then I liked the one with Joel Gray (which was actually a two part episode) where Alice is in the play "New York" and Mel changes everything so it has to do with Arizona. I loved all of the singing in that one. Then my last favorite was the one where Mrs Walden moved in with Vera and Elliot. I thought Linda Lavin was hilarious as Mrs Walden. :-)

Hi,
I am new to this board. Alice is my second favorite all time sitcom. My #1 sitcom is The Nanny. Alice has been my favorite since 1976. Nanny took over in 1995. I have many favorite Alice episodes. I think the one where Alice argues with Flo and Vera is mad at Mel. Alice tries to fix things with psychology (I think it is spelled right). I love it were they role play. I also think the Eve Arden episode is great. I love it when the money is found in the diner, and Annie the bag lady takes back her money for the day she missed. I love when Flo quits and Alice pretends to be Flo. I can go on and on.

Thumbs up

I think the funniest episode is when Vera first starts dating Brian, and all her coworkers are tripping over themselves to get a look at him.

Vera: Alice, you act just like my mother. And Mel, you're just like my father. And Flo! You're just like my grandmother!!

Flo: AUNT! (Pronounced, Ain't)

I think my second favorite episode is Vera Gets Married. The image of Beth Howland eating a rose just strikes me as hilarious.

My favorite episodes of "Alice" were:

- The one where Tommy wants to go on ahunting trip and Alice forbids it

- The jive-ass mother in law two-parter

- The one where Mel gets a new car and the girls end up destroying it on three city blocks

- George Burns

- Mel's roast at his birthday party

- Bell's first appearance

- Belle teaching Vera how to be sexy: "Move like the waves in the ocean"

- The episode with the guard dogs at each door of the diner- Loved how they crowded around just to get to the phone and back to the counter

- The episode where Jolene drives a truck full of dynamite into the mountains

- The hot air balloon episode

- The episode where everyone nags Mel about not getting anything from him: Marie wants a ring, Carrie wants grandkids, etc.

- The breakdancing episode

- The episode where Alice leaves Tommy with Mel and Tommy ends up getting hurt by his dirt bike

- The U.F.O. episode

- The unforgettable Robot Waitress episode

Those are about all that i can remember.

My fave is "Block Those Kicks." It's the one where Alice, Flo, Vera, and Mel all try to stop a habit of their's. Alice gave up chocolate, Flo stopped drinking coffee, Vera quit smoking, amd Mel forgot about his bookie. To help each other with moral support, they have a sleepover party. Alice disconnects her phone so Mel can't call his bookie, and Tommy goes to a friend's house fot eh night and takes all the chocolate in Alice and his apartment with him. During the night, things happen like Mel trying to sneak out the house to go to his bookie, and Alice and co. finding Vera smoking in the closet. Very funny ep.
