According to Jim Might Have had a Boy Meets World Reference. - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

In a very early episode (season 1, episode 3), Jim's family had a cat named Mr. Feeny who died. My mom and I both thought of Boy Meets World (hey LAFF, add that to your schedule!) when the cat's name came up. Later on it was revealed that Mr. Feeny was named after a former lover of Cheryl's before she was married to Jim. Feeny's first name was not George though, which would have been an even bigger BMW connection. I don't know if the According to Jim writers were thinking of Boy Meets World or not, but it was also the same network with one show ending a year before the other one started.

According to Jim reused the same living room set as BMW that is why they made the easter egg joke

Not to mention 'Feeny' is by no means a conventional feline name as ,say, 'Fluffy'!
