As somewhat of a car buff I find this episode unrealistic and unbelievable. According to Mr Johnson their 1920 Model T hasn't been driven in over 40 years. How did it look brand new and start up immediately? A car that hasn't been driven for 40 years would require extensive mechanical restoration to get up and running . Seasons 5 " A Car Named Chrysanthemum "was at least somewhat believable, the nursery owner at least used the old car for carrying peat moss....even thought it required major restoration , at least it ran

At the very least the gas in the car sitting for 40 years would have turned sour or to sludge.
As for the other being a little real, how about Hazel's sudden ability to restore and transform a totally rusting rotting heap into a totally professionally done restored vintage car. She couldn't even sandblast without boring a hole in the door much less create brand new white upholstery for the heap. But, who ever said these shows are supposed to be reality based? If that was the case Hazel would have been fired after 10 minutes of the very first episode. |
