Why so Angry?

I have been on this forum, off and on, since almost the beginning, and I have seen a lot of @$%# go down, on here, but most of it has been in good fun, but, I checked in tonight, and there seems to be a lot of cranky, old people posting here now. Why the anger? This is just a TV forum. Nobody is " desecrating the legacy of, All In The Family. Chill out, get laid, whatever. Life is too short to get worked up over nothing.

Sadly, some people can’t separate politics from a fun-loving message board about sitcoms.

Anything new is considered a travesty. I used to think this way but I’ve come to learn that that kind of thinking gets you nowhere except under a rock.

I noticed this too. Some were confrontational with others, but then object at the response. I also noticed some people were making negative general statements about political parties when discussing just a tv show. Once again all of this could be avoided if people would learn to use critical thinking.

I admit to getting unnecessarily angry at times when I'm on line. I tend to be snarky when I get on Facebook often, and I'm not really sure why. I hope I haven't been that way on this site and I haven't really noticed a trend here, except maybe in certain threads when a heated discussion is happening.

IMO it's pointless to inject politics into discussions about sitcoms. Sometimes I see a post that I'd really like to counter, but I hesitate and don't do it. What's the point? No one's mind is going to be changed in a fiery back and forth.

As the OP says, lighten up. Best just to ignore troll posts, or report them if they're too far afield.

I ignore certain posts now, especially the ones that are racially and politically charged for no reason. I didn't come here to argue with people (just to discuss TV shows) so I don't bother getting into it with posters.

Politics is often already in sitcoms, especially those made after the 1960's.

I haven't been on this site as much but I tend to stay away from The Politics Thread. Even if I don't, I try not to post and even if I do post I try not to start something.

As for discussions on politics, well the answer is simple: don't have a politics thread in the first place, but if you do don't be surprised if people exercise their right to free speech and use it.

I post there sometimes but its pointless cause it usually leads to fighting and hatefull feelings cause we all think differently on things and cant seem to get along knowing our differences.......
