Has anyone here seen 'From Hell'?
Did any of you actually understand the ending?
If so, would you mind explaining it to me?
How come Inspector Aberline was contemplating going to Ireland to meet up with Mary Kelly? I thought Mary Kelly was the last woman to be killed - Aberline was stood right next to her body!
But if the dead women at the end wasn't Mary Kelly, then who was it? And why did everyone think it was Mary Kelly?
Someone please shed some light on the subject. Is the film this confusing for everyone or am I just plain dumb?!

Okay, here's what I remember...
The last victim wasn't Mary Kelly (Heather Graham) but that French girl who was sharing the room with her. Mary must have fled the place sometime in the evening, before Jack came calling. The body was so mutilated that no one could tell who it was.
There was no investigation because the guys behind the conspiracy (the free masons) believed the last girl who witnessed the wedding in the beginning of the film was finally eliminated.

I saw that movie on DVD a week ago. It does raise some interesting theories about the Jack The Ripper killings, but it was a bit hard to follow at times..

the last one killed was the little French Girl. Remember the detective found the note that said she left with the child and wanted him to join her...and she didn't want to wait. there was so much blood, etc. that it looked like the french girl actually had red hair although she doesn't and the detective is the only one that caught it.

it was kept quiet so that the child and her would be safe.
