Details Revealed for Martin Scorsese's Bob Dylan Concert Docu. 'Rolling Thunder'
Martin Scorsese's Rolling Thunder Bob Dylan Concert Doc Gets Release Date and New Poster
by Nick Romano April 25, 2019 For years there have been rumblings of a Bob Dylan concert documentary from director Martin Scorsese, and reports from this past January tipped us off to a planned release from Netflix. Now the streaming platform is ready to share details. Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese is part documentary and part concert film about Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue tour of 1975-76, and Netflix will release the long-awaited work this June 12. According to a press release, the film “captures the troubled spirit of America in 1975 and the joyous music that Dylan performed during the fall of that year.” The new poster confirms the release date of June 12. For the Rolling Thunder Revue Tour, Dylan hit up smaller venues with little-to-no advanced notice with a number of old friends, like Roger McGuinn, Joan Baez, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, and Allen Ginsberg. Photographer Ken Regan, who was on hand to capture the craziness of this time, released a book of photography in 2016 called Rolling Thunder: Photographs. Scorsese, who’s The Irishman was also picked up by Netflix, previously directed 2005’s No Direction Home: Bob Dylan, which traced Dylan’s evolution and impact on pop culture. All of Dylan’s performances featured in Rolling Thunder are also available on 'Bob Dylan – Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings], the upcoming and comprehensive music anthology from the tour, coming June 7 as a companion to the doc’s release. With 148 tracks spread out across 14 CDs, the collection includes professional recordings of five full sets from Dylan’s tour. https://ew.com/movies/2019/04/25/mar...der-bob-dylan/ |
