"Chicago P.D." star Jon Seda is exiting the popular NBC drama franchise. Also departing are "Chicago Med" co-stars Colin Donnell and Norma Kuhling. All three are leaving as series regulars.

As is always the case with the Dick Wolf TV universe, they could return for guest appearances. According to sources, the cast departures stem from creative reasons related to the characters’ story evolution.

Donnell has played the series regular character of Dr. Connor Rhodes, a Cardiothoracic and Trauma Surgery Attending (he began as a Trauma Surgery Fellow) at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center on "Chicago Med" since the series’ launch in 2015.

He also made guest appearances as the character in a total of four episodes in "Chicago P.D." (seasons 3 and 4) and four episodes of "Chicago Fire" (seasons 4, 6 and 7).

Kuhling first appeared as Dr. Ava Bekker in the season 2 finale of "Chicago Med" as a recurring and was upped to a series regular at the start of Season 3.

The doctor is out — and he’s bummed about it. "Chicago Med‘s" Colin Donnell is confirming that he will not be returning to the Windy City-set hospital drama in Season 5.

“Sorry to say that this is true,” the actor behind Dr. Connor Rhodes lamented late Friday on social media, shortly after news of his exit broke. “I love my #ChicagoMed #OneChicago family dearly. And a special thank you to all the fans that have made these last four seasons so amazing.”

Donnell went on to say, “It’s been an honor to be a part of such a great trio of shows and in the [Dick Wolf] family. I know that there’s great things coming for Season 5 and I can’t wait to see what they are along with all you fans.”

"Chicago Med's" Norma Kuhling "Feeling Nothing but Gratitude" Ahead of Exit

Norma Kuhling is expressing “gratitude” to her "Chicago Med" family in the wake of news that she will be leaving the NBC hospital drama at the end of its current fourth season.

“Thank you Chicago Med for two amazing years,” Kuhling shared via Instagram. “Really going to miss this family, but feeling nothing but gratitude. A huge thank you to NBC and Dick Wolf for bringing me on board, to the best cast and crew imaginable, and, finally, to the fans for making these shows what they are. Can’t wait to cheer #OneChicago on in its future seasons with you!”
