I believe not only one of the best in season 1 but all seasons. Writing is fabulous and Hugh’s lines are gold. I can see how he must feel having his boys playing at another man’s home.
When June says she’s going to put mayo on Eddie’s sandwich and takes it out of the cupboard, I would say all the boys would get sick. I’ve always refrigerated mayo once opened. I don’t like Eddie at all and hate how he tells June your husband put it up wrong. “Don’t forget to give Eddie his sandwich.” Laugh every time. Watching Hugh shoot baskets was a treat. |

There's an Arthur episode that has elements of "The Perfect Father" called "The Perfect Brother" where Arthur is like Ward and Brain is like Mr. Dennison. Arthur and Brain play basketball, and Arthur says, "Yeah, Dad. Mayonnaise is wild!" It's a season 1 episode.

Another early example of imperfect Ward, and the casual Cleavers. I like that!
Never noticed the mayo thing. With eggs in it, it should always be refrigerated. Maybe in Voodoo Magic one of June's sandwiches made Eddie sick. |

Eddie must have either hated mayo or was allergic because in The Clubhouse June is going to make sandwiches and Eddie advises her he’s allergic to mayo. She often made tuna fish or “chopped egg” sandwiches which always has mayo.
Sometimes if kids didn’t like some food they would say they had an allergy. The doc once told my mother my sister was allergic to chocolate and she wasn’t. |

LOL. To this day I think she’s afraid to eat chocolate.
