TV Moms Who Had A Baby Late In Life

Of all the TV shows past and present, what female characters had a baby late in life? They can be characters that have already had children but end up having a unexpected baby later on or they can be characters that don't have any children and end up finally having one when they're older. I know of a few examples.

Rachel (Friends) and Roz (Frasier) didn't have "late in life" babies. They were in their early to mid 30s. I'm not sure how old Daphne (Frasier) was, maybe late 30s - I suppose that might be considered "late in life."

Welll Roz was already well into her 30's before having Alice so I do consider that late in life. As with Rachel she was already in her 30's when she had Emma, it's not neccessarily late in life but she was no longer in her 20's. I consider late in life for anyone over 30.

I really noticed a trend on a lot of sitcoms in the 80's and early 90's, that had older women having babies. You don't see it on TV as much now, it's more or less younger women having babies. I was really surprised to see just how many older women on TV shows were having babies. I think the most noticeable ones were the ones 40 and over like Murphy Brown, Elyse Keaton, Carmen Carlton, Maggie Seaver, Vivian Banks, and Dr. Quinn.

There were a lot of over 40 women having babies on TV back then, those are the ones that I would consider "late in life." Most of the women on your list already had nearly grown or fully grown kids (except for Murphy and Dr. Quinn) and could have been grandmas.

Maybe back then they were getting ahead of a trend of women in their 40s having kids, showing where society was headed. These days it doesn't seem like such a big deal for a woman of that age to have kids, even their first kid.

In some of these cases, it's because the actress was pregnant in real life and the show didn't want to hide it.
