Default How come Nick At Nite tends to show the newer sitcoms rather than the older sitcoms?

Lately when I have seen Nick At Nite I've noticed that Nick At Nite has gone in a new direction and is starting to show reruns of newer sitcoms rather than 90's sitcoms now and I wonder if this is the start of a new image that Nick At Nite is adopting to attract new audiences? Take for instance I cannot understand why Nick At Nite airs Mom reruns when Mom is still airing on CBS and when I saw that Nick At Nite started to air Mom reruns I got surprised at this news and it was showing that Nick At Nite was indeed getting a new image. The same thing happened with The Office and I cannot see how Nick At Nite shows reruns of a show from the 2000's and if I ran Nick At Nite I would add 90's sitcoms like Wings and Veronica's Closet and Dream On and others. But it seems that Nick At Nite focuses on Friends and The King Of Queens as the popular sitcom reruns these days and sitcoms like Frasier Seinfeld According To Jim and Newsradio or even Spin City would be a better fit than Friends on Nick At Nite 's lineup. But for some reason 2000's sitcoms seem to be Nick At Nite's strongest links and they should have an weekend that's full of classic 90's sitcoms like The Drew Carey Show Malcolm In The Middle and Ellen and that would be a success for Nick At Nite and grant them a new image that's different to fans of sitcoms

Hi, Bestie! I notice that too. But at least they have some good shows.

I think the creation of TV Land in 1996 is what led Nick at Nite to start airing newer sitcoms. For example, if a sitcom from the 1960s has aired on Nick at Nite for awhile, it is moved to TV Land to make room for a sitcom from the 1980s on the N@N schedule.

During its first 15 to 20 years, Nick At Nite mainly favoring the older shows(Pre-2000 era) on the schedule. it seems now in recent years, the newer shows are controlling merely most of the N@N schedule.

I agree. I think if nick@niTe was targeting 90’s it’s biggest hits for nick@niTe would be Full House & Saved By The Bell.(Yes, I know Saved By The Bell never joined the nick@niTe Schedule but I always felt this show would of done well on nick@niTe)!

nick@niTe’s direction change is focusing on College Kids-adults as oppose to Families. I would think if nick@niTe’s direction was still families it would be airring Last Man Standing & The Goldbergs & black ish & the middle. In addition to airring other Families from past eras (Home Improvement & Roseanne & Full House/ Fuller House & The Brady Bunch & Andy Griffith Show) Including Family Movies like National Lampoons Vacation Movies & The Sandlot & Santa Claus The Movie they showed on CMT a lot during the 2018 Holiday Season.

However Viacom being Viacom the Family direction is now on CMT. Here are other examples..

NICK at NITE Classic TV than goes to TVLand than goes to logo.

Nick@Nite’s Family direction goes to TVLAND than goes to CMT.

I believe NICK at NITE is one of Viacom’s favorites. However currently nick@niTe is being used to help improve other Viacom networks.

Who knows if Viacom didn’t buy so many channels and change format we might To this day still be seeing Dennis the Menace & Donna Reed & The Monkee’s & Bewitched & I Love Lucy & The Brady Bunch still on NICK at NITE!

Nick at Nite has been worthless for awhile now. The Office, Mom, Friends, The King of Queens- I have no use for any of those shows.

George Lopez also airs it too, even then it has been on network nonstop (not counting for other shows marathon) since 2007! It's slowly going to be phased off soon, just like Full House last year..

Merry24 does have a good point about Viacom's Nick at Nite.

do you think its strange that the only black & white comedy tv land airs is the Andy griffith show? they mostly just show westerns!! they show every one loves raymond the goldbergs & king of queens!! I don't think theses shows should be on tv land!! i do sometimes watch the goldbergs!!
