Default Do you think the upcoming movie Little is a ripoff of Big?

I have seen previews of the upcoming movie named Little and what I have seen disturbs me to no end that I think will cause a lawsuit. What I have seen is that the movie Little seems to be a ripoff of Tom Hanks's 1988 movie Big but with a female character and it tells me that the entire movie was based on Big minus the fortune teller at the carnival scene in Big. I have a feeling that the movie Little will be pulled from theaters because of it's similarities to Big and the directors and movie production company will sue the Penny Marshall estate for copying Big

Hi, Bestie! Yes it is a rip off of Big. But since it is the opposite of bigt, I think they can get away with it. What do you thinki?

I think so, yes. My mom and I see the trailer for this a lot and even she thinks so as well.

The movie doesn’t interest me at all. That little girl from blackish gets on my last nerve.

Every other movie is a ripoff of something. Why not this one?

Marsai Martin said in an interview that Big inspired her in doing this movie.

We also had another "reverse remake" a little while ago with What Men Want where a woman hears men's thoughts. (The 2000 film What Women Want had a guy hearing women's thoughts.)

ripoff sounds bad--the correct wording is remake, re-imaging, or homage

Little puts me in mind of the movie "Freaky Friday" from 1976 with Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster and the remake in 2003 with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lyndsey Lohan more so than it reminds me of Big!

A mother and daughter find their personalities switched and have to live each other's lives on one strange Friday.

You do know Big isn't an original movie, right? Just the year previous to Big was an Italian movie called Da grande. About a boy who wishes he could become an adult, and does.

And the 'body swap' idea has been around since the 1800s. The 1882 book Vice Versa has been made into films from the silent era to the 1988 film with Fred Savage.

There won't be any lawsuits. It's not a rip off to lift a concept, and the concept of people swapping bodies isn't anything new. "Big" was one of the fifteenth million movies and shows that came out copying "Freaky Friday", and on shows like I Dream of Jeannie, the characters often were put in someone's else's body. There was even an entire sitcom based on the premise called "Turnabout."
