Default The Leave it to Beaver Channel on Roku

Got a Roku. Pretty cool. They have the Cleavers on. I'm 66 so I saw the show the first time it ran and has been a top fav of mine ever since. Haven't watched it for a few years. The show lost something when Larry left and lost more as the kids grew up. Wally was the best actor. Beav couldn't act much. The kids were much more natural as kids and as they tried acting their characters they mostly failed. Eddie became a parody of himself.

I am also watching Jeff's Collie aka Lassie. It ran 1954 to 57. They had a character named Porky. If you recall him don't ya think he and Larry Mondello woulda had a good show?

Larry and Porky could have had an eating contest.

I agree that the show lost a lot in the later years, and Rusty Stevens' departure was part of that. Mathers' acting was much better in the earlier episodes--maybe he lost interest as he grew older. Beaver was more feisty when he was smaller--better writing in those cases. We've pointed out a lot of instances in later episodes where he should have stood up for himself but didn't. Again, it's all in the writing.

Just a note, you have to buy the episodes to watch ($1.99 each on amazon prime.) It's not free.

There's a channel called Beaver Cleaver TV on Roku that is free. It has a few commercials, but usually only 2 or 3 minutes per episode.

It's also free on a channel called "Classic Hollywood TV" which I've been able to get on Roku.

If I feel like some Beaver and it’s not on MeTV at the moment I take out my (don’t laugh) VHS tapes from TV Land.

The commercials on Beaver Cleaver TV have gotten ridiculous. In one episode tonight, there were 11 commercials and 5 of them were for the same stupid movie!

Sounds like watching Antenna TV. I think I saw that tartive dyskenisia commercial three times this morning.

Good old tartive dyskenisia, which is evidently a disorder caused by a side effect of a bipolar medication. Now they're making drugs to deal with the side effects of other drugs.

That's the main reason I didn't like watching Boomerang even when it was still playing the old Hanna-Barbera cartoons: they kept playing the same annoying commercials over and over of the modern show I don't like.

The drug commercials are so annoying and there are so many because there’s so much money in pharmaceuticals. The actors in these ads are all beautiful and if you ask your doctor for these drugs you too will be beautiful. I guess they think if you like retro TV you’re old and need meds.

I remember when the only commercials were for Bufferin, Anacin, Pepto Bismol and Phillips Milk of Magnesia.

I've noticed that MeTV and Antenna TV were the same last time I watched regularly in the morning, during school hours, and for the rest of the afternoon, they would have ads that were senior-oriented. Hey, there are some people who like shows that were new long before they were born!

And Proctor and Gamble products, like soap and deodorant. I'd rather see those and the ones you mentioned than all the junk ads on TV now.
