Hollywood Squares w/Peter Marshall

I wish Buzzr would show the old Hollywood Squares, the original with Peter Marshall. I think it ran approx. 1966 to 1982? It's as much fun to me as Match Game is. I emailed Buzzr and asked them to consider airing it. Maybe you could email them too! askbuzzr@buzzrplay.com

I don't know how accurate this is but from Wikipedia:

"Game Show Network previously reran a package of 130 episodes from Marshall's hosting run as well as a package from the Bergeron run.[16] It was noted at the time that substantially more Marshall episodes than the 130 that GSN aired are believed to exist, but for a number of reasons (including political correctness concerns and personality rights clearance issues) have never been rerun".

I always had the feeling with the British equivalent Celebrity Squares that the participants were given the questions in advance.

I thought most of the original Hollywood Squares episodes were wiped.

I think on Hollywood Squares the celebs knew what questions were coming and were given jokes and bluff answers, but never the right answer. They could then either use the joke or make one up, or bluff or answer correctly if they did know the answer on their own.

Anyone know for sure the system?

I suppose some of them might be lost. But I've seen original episodes from back in the early 70s on different streaming services and found some online too. So if there are episodes of the original Hollywood Squares from that early in its run I'd think most of them still exist somewhere.

What I found out from the internet - which absolutely shocked me - is that every single one of Paul Lynde's hysterically funny one liners were written by show's writers and none were original from him.

From what I read about this in Peter Marshall's book, the celebrities were provided with question categories and joke/bluff answers. For instance, Paul Lynde would have a category like Clothing and then his joke, "because chiffon wrinkles", but he wouldn't know the actual question until Marshall asked it.

You can still watch even episodes from the 1960s on Youtube, and that's good, but I would still like Buzzr to add it to their primetime lineup.
