Default The Razzies: The TV Edition

My favourite part of the Oscars are what happens the night before, which is today. That's when the Razzies are awarded but sadly not televised. This night celebrates the worst that movies have to offer, and this year, it reminds us yet again what lousy actors that Melissa McCarthy and Will Ferrell really are.

2019 Razzie Awards

I have often wondered why they don't do the same thing with TV series because there is always a lot of bad TV that gets made every season and this year is no exception. I think it would be fun to see who the winners (or losers if you prefer) would be if there was a TV version of the Razzies so I have created my own TV Razzies ballot for some of the major categories and it will be up to you to pick who the awards will go to. So here you go and don't hold back. Any show is eligible.

COMEDY

---Worst Series

---Worst Lead Actor

---Worst Lead Actress

---Worst Supporting Actor

---Worst Supporting Actress

DRAMA

---Worst Series

---Worst Lead Actor

---Worst Lead Actress

---Worst Supporting Actor

REALITY

For what it's worth, here are my choices:

Worst Comedy Series: Rel

Worst Actor, Comedy: Cedric The Entertainer "The Neighborhood"

Worst Drama Series: Riverdale

Worst Reality Series: Keeping Up With The Kardashians

The rest is up to you.

I don't watch enough tv today to contribute. I just wanted to say it's a pretty cool concept for a thread, though.

Worst Comedy: Murphy Brown revival. Only good part of this was the dog in the last 3 episodes (get him in some good show as a regular), otherwise the revival just tainted the legacy of the original. While the original had its share of political content, it had several great episodes that did not feature politics much. They also basically erased Corky's past and made her another feminist. The actors who were in both versions couldn't act anywhere near like they did in the 80s/90s. And Jake McDorman was great in Limitless, I liked him being cast here when the news was announced, but ended up liking him a lot less on Murphy Blech.

Worst Drama: A Million Little Things. James Roday went from the greatness of Psych to this depressing turd of a show, Designated Survivor was so much better. While its ratings improved some when moved after Grey's Anatomy, A Million Little Turds will never be a hit with mass appeal like This is Us (I don't like that show either, but it has been a hit from the start and ABC was clearly aiming for the This is Us audience).

Murphy Brown had a dog? I don't remember seeing her with a dog. Then again, I might have been watching Will & Grace at the time - another series that didn't need to come back.

The dog wasn't brought in until the last 3 or 4 episodes, so several who had dropped the revival before that point wouldn't have seen it. How dumb of NBC renewing Will and Grace revival for a 3rd season before season 2 had even premiered. Hopefully the show goes away for good once season 3 is burned off.

Close Runner-Up for Worst Comedy: Single Parents. Brad Garrett is becoming a one trick pony who hasn't done anything good since Everybody Loves Raymond. Single Parents is awful, The Kids Are Alright is 100 times better.

I don’t watch enough current TV to participate but I will say what I think are the best new shows:

The Masked Singer
The Cool Kids

2 really good shows!
