Not one of the best episodes!
First of all we never really see Ward and Beaver constructing the kite. Also why would they get up early on a school/work day to finish the kite? They would have to get up at 3:00 am. There they are, kite’s all done and now time for breakfast. I don’t think you can make that ambitious kite on a school day. After the kite is ruined wouldn’t you think that when Ward came home Friday night he would want to see it to check it and make sure it’s sturdy instead he never even looks at it even after he comes back from golf. Why would they show Beaver and Gilbert trying out the kite without a bit of breeze let alone wind. In Beavers Doll Buggy it’s really windy so it’s possible to show wind. Hate how Gilbert grabs the kite and says “Let’s Go.” Was he trying to destroy the kite. We never saw his. The best moment was the appearance of Jason Robards, Sr. who had some great lines. Did Beaver finally make that second kite on his own? |

"I'm afraid my rain dance days are over." "People say many things about me. What did you have in mind?" Yeah, great scene.
We saw Ward working on the kite, and Beaver squirted glue on his hand. Then June sent him to bed. Yeah, even if it didn't occur to Ward to check on the kite, you'd think he would have routinely gone into the boys' room at some point (or June would have, and of course would have found out about it). Or she would have found it during her normal snoop mission. |

Yeah wouldn’t you think June would find it all smashed up?? It’s like June and Ward stayed out of their room for a change. Unless Beaver threw it in the trashcan.
I can hear June now “Oh Ward look what I found in the boys’ room. It’s totally no good now. Beaver must have tried flying it this afternoon and I managed to get a piece of it to show you.” Ward “Well I told him it should set over night. Now we have to find an Indian and make it rain.” |
