When CBS debuted Hallmark Hall Of Fame movies in the 80's they were essentially a part of family time and now I have noticed that Hallmark Hall Of Fame movies have changed their image and I have never figured out why they did it? Take for instance I have noticed that the Hallmark Hall Of Fame movies now feature sad storylines and deal with serious subjects like death and always seem to have a lead character have an illness like cancer and when I noticed this it shocks me that Hallmark Hall Of Fame movies have a serious image now. I remember when Hallmark Hall Of Fame movies had happy movies with everyone being happy and everything hunky-dory at the end. Second thing I noticed that Hallmark Hall Of Fame movies have movies based on books and they make a trilogy of sequels. For example when the movie Sarah Plain And Tall came out it was one of the popular Hallmark Hall Of Fame movies and then they aired the movie Skylark and then Sarah Plain And Tall Winter's End followed and CBS knew that this trilogy would be a success and would make more Hallmark Hall Of Fame movies based on books starting with the popular Follow The Stars Home movie that was based on a book by Luanne Rice and was a hit. The last thing I noticed is that in Hallmark Hall Of Fame movies today they seem to stick sitcom stars and other movie stars in the movies. Take for instance I noticed that Eric Close who appeared in CBS's Now And Again was in Follow The Stars Home and Kimberly Williams-Paisley made herself a household name in Hallmark Hall Of Fame movies and is now a sitcom star. The same magic happened when Christopher Walken and Glenn Close starred in the Sarah Plain And Tall trilogy and they are the top Hollywood stars. But Hallmark Hall Of Fame movies should be improved and return to their happy roots
