Fabien Frankel Cast as Andy Sipowicz’s Son in New "NYPD Blue" Series
Fabien Frankel To Star as Andy Sipowicz’s Son in ABC Sequel Pilot
by Nellie Andreeva January 17, 2019 After an extensive search, young British actor Fabien Frankel has landed the lead role of Theo Sipowicz in ABC’s pilot "NYPD Blue", a new iteration of the iconic cop drama. The sequel revolves around Theo (Frankel), the son of Dennis Franz’s Detective Andy Sipowicz character from the original series, who tries to earn his detective shield and work in the 15th squad while investigating his father’s murder. Theo seems to have taken after his father as he too is a hard-drinking, hard-headed and quick-witted cop. Like the original series, the followup revolves around a core group of 15th Precinct police officers/detectives. Frankel’s Theo leads the quartet, which includes Detective Nicole Lazarus (Alana Tal). Additionally, two cast members from the original series, Kim Delaney and Bill Brochtrup, will reprise their roles as Diane Russell and John Irvin, respectively. Frankel, a recent LAMDA graduate, earned solid reviews for his role in the West End play The Knowledge. He is currently shooting the feature Last Christmas for director Paul Feig, playing a lover to Emilia Clarke. Frankel was cast as Theo after a three-month search and multiple test as the producers cast a wide net for the role of the son of an iconic TV character. He is the son of late actor Mark Frankel (1962-1996) who is known from the feature Leon the Pig Farmer, as well as from roles on television series "Sisters" and "Kindred: The Embraced". https://deadline.com/2019/01/nypd-bl...ot-1202536796/ |

OMG, I read that they were going to have Sipowitz be dead in the 'sequel' but I think that's terrible to say that he'd been murdered. He was a beloved character. I do like the idea of his son being in the show even though I'm not crazy at all about the idea of their being a new show to begin with.
