Default RealTV (KentB3's Fictional Network)

This post is about RealTV, a fictional over-the-air TV network usually carried as a digital subchannel of a TV station's main signal. I chose RealTV as the network's working title for obvious reasons, if you take a good look at the schedule! From virtually the beginning of TV in the 1940's well until the 1990's, TV stations and networks had very distinct schedules and dayparts centerted around an all-important Prime Time schedule with sitcoms and drama series, game shows and soap operas in the daytime, cartoons on Saturday morning, sports on weekend afternoons, etc. In recent years, many of these have almost completely disappeared, such as Saturday morning cartoons, as well as game shows and soaps in the daytime during the week. RealTV airs many of what is now largely missing from network TV today, which is where the "Real" comes from!

This schedule is based on an earlier proposal I posted here a few years ago and written as if RealTV is a sister network to Antenna TV, due to the fact that MeTV already has three sister networks (Heroes & Icons, Start TV, and Decades), so Antenna TV would be the more logical partner network. Antenna TV has one sister network (This TV), but This TV mainly airs movies instead of classic TV shows like Heroes & Icons, Start TV, and Decades. In addition, this would gain access to Antenna TV's library of shows, adding shows no longer airing on Antenna TV (much like Decades) as well as shows on the back burner of their schedule (currently airing overnight) that would be more likely to get dropped. The rest consists of shows not airing currently on any other subchannel or no longer airing on these networks. Here is the schedule:

Monday-Friday:
6:00am Square Pegs (Monday)
The Charmings (Tuesday)
On Our Own (a short-lived 1977-78 sitcom, Wednesday)
Flo (a spin off of Alice, Thursday)
The Betty White Show (Friday)

6:30am The Archie Show (Monday)
Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1970 cartoon series, not the 1990's sitcom, Tuesday)
Josie and the Pussycats (Wednesday)
Groovie Goolies (Thursday)
The Jetsons (original 1960's run, Friday)

7:00am The Flintstones
7:30am Garfield & Friends
8:0am Super Friends
8:30am Captain Kangaroo (E/I) It has been reported that the majority of episodes have been wiped, or destroyed (especially the early B&W episodes), but I do know that MANY episodes aired on PBS during the mid-to-late 1980's; though nearly all of the PBS airings were from the mid-70's onward.

9:00am The Odd Couple
9:30am The Honeymooners (Monday) This is the 1955-56 "Classic 39" run. Decades has the "Lost Episodes".
Rhoda (Tuesday-Friday)
10:00am The Waltons
11:00pm Eight is Enough
12:00 noon Happy Days
12:30pm Happy Days
1:00pm Laverne & Shirley

This was hosted by Dennis James (from 1972-1977) and Bob Barker (1977-1980).

EXACTLY! I based the number of airing per day on the episode volume of these shows. For example, What's Happening!! and Doogie Hoswer M.D. both have less that 100 episodes, so I cut both to three airings per week, to make way for other short lived, but memorable series. Likewise, some shows like the ones that air in the 6am slot were so short lived (usually one season, sometimes two), that there was no need for more than one airing, to keep these shows even with other shows on the schedule.

On the other hand, shows such as Happy Days, Cheers, and 7th Heaven get two airings daily, due to the large number of episodes of each series. Cheers and 7th Heaven both ran 11 seasons, and Happy Days ran for 10 1/2.

One more edit. I changed the run of Match Game to the syndicated, five day week 1979-82 run, since I didn't realize Buzzr started running Match Game PM this month (Match Game PM expanded to five nights a week when the CBS Daytime version was cancelled in 1979). Here is the what I have now:

Groovie Goolies (Thursday)
The Jetsons (original 1960's run, Friday)

7:00am The Flintstones

I made yet another revision to my schedule. Apparently, some of the shows on the last schedule such as The Flintstones is no airing on MeTV, and The Waltons will be airing on MeTV in January. Keep in mind that I created this as a sister network to Antenna TV, since MeTV already has three sister networks (Heroes & Icons, Decades, and Start TV), and the closest thing Antenna TV to a sister network is This TV (which is a joint venture between Antenna TV's owner Nexstar Media Group and MGM Domestic Television Distribution). Also, This TV mainly airs movies instead of TV series reruns, so it can't be compared to MeTV's sister networks.

Anyway, here is what I have now:

Monday-Friday:
6:00am The Jack Benny Show
6:30am Square Pegs (Monday)
The Charmings (Tuesday)

Spider-Man (Thursday & Friday) 1967-70 cartoon series

8:30am Captain Kangaroo (E/I) It has been reported that the majority of episodes have been wiped, or destroyed (especially the early B&W episodes), but I do know that MANY episodes aired on PBS during the mid-to-late 1980's; though nearly all of the PBS airings were from the mid-70's onward.

Here are some of the Christmas specials I would plan to air for the Holiday season:

It's Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown. This is a straight-to-video cartoon from 1992, not sure if it ever actually aired on TV or not:
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x56pskl

A Garfield Christmas Special:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbL-uxd4ZVw

Raggedy Ann & Andy in The Great Santa Claus Caper. Makes me REALLY feel old when no one knows what Gloopstick is!

The Tiny Tree

Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus:
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x549mhp

A Muppet Family Christmas:

I also would include Rankin-Bass specials that no longer air on broadcast TV (only Rudolph, Frosty, and Santa Claus is Comin' to Town currently air) (though some air on cable via ABC Family), such as:

Frosty's Winter Wonderland:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmFUJS6uEEw

Twas the Night Before Christmas:

Pinocchio's Christmas:

Syndicated Prime-Time 1972-80 (Friday) Due to the abundance of fur coats given away on this version, as per Bob Barker's wishes, there will only be enough for a once a week airing (approx 40 of the 240 episodes in the 70's nighttime shows had no furs given away). This was hosted by Dennis James (from 1972-1977) and Bob Barker (1977-1980).
