Some things last years, but finally stop working. I'm probably not the only one who had something that worked well for years, but stopped working. While we all know nothing can last forever it's still a bummer when the time comes to toss it. Things used to be made to last years. I know there are more "modern" devices like IPods and MP3 players. I don't know the different between those as I've never had either one.

This cassette recorder I've had since at least 1998, and I think it's older than that. I know some people will think it's silly to have something so "old" and out dated. With my extremely limited vision things that are very user friendly and don't require much vision are best for me. One of the two "springs" in the battery compartment broke and now it doesn't work right. I don't think they even make these anymore. I'm not sure what the brand is.

I don't think it's silly. If you don't know anyone with basic electrical skills, battery compartment professional repair should be inexpensive.

You might want to call them and find out if it can be repaired and the cost

If you do call them have the make and model number available

General Electric (GE) and
Model number 3-3364A
Also a description (portable cassette player or walkman ) if it has battery operation and/or AC adaption

or all of the above

That's my best bet...I'm trying to get a PS3 that's reverse compatible with PS2 Games...ebay and amazon are my only options however...

I'm sorry I misread this, I thought you were going to throw it away, not that you did.

Do you use the record feature much or just for playing tapes?

You may want to check out The Vermont Country Store.They may have what you are looking for or similar.They also have a nice paper catalog.Their number is 800 564 4623.And by the way I agree the old stuff was often better,more simple and built to last.

That was probably your best bet. The cost to repair it might have been way more than it was worth plus you have to figure in shipping both ways as well.

Sorry Jenny. I'm the same way you are when it comes to liking very basic features on electronics. I always tell sales people that the less bells and whistles, the better. I just bought this extremely simple alarm clock that fixes the time when it's plugged in. It's great for power outages and daylight savings time. The owners "manual" was one page, lol.
