Default HBO Classic

Dear WarnerMedia Group,

I have a proposal for Home Box Office, Inc.: to launch a brand-new, 24/7 channel titled HBO Classic, featuring 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week, of Classic HBO Programming from the 1980s to the 2010s, to tentatively launch on September 3, 2019 at 12 A.M. ET/PT, supplanting for DirecTV Customers such as myself the West Coast feed of HBO Family.

In its present, idea stage, HBO Classic is HBO's answer to Nick at Nite, featuring 24 hours a day of Classic HBO Original Series and Movies from the vast HBO Television Network library over the course of 40 years.

A tentative Inaugural Lineup shall include the following HBO Series and Films:

1. Dream On -- Created by John Landis, "Dream On" originally aired on HBO from July 8, 1990 - March 27, 1996, spanning 8 seasons in 6 years of 120 episodes; the show starred Brian Benben as Martin Tupper, a recently divorced 32-year-old New York City book editor who shared custody with ex-wife Judith (Wendie Malick) of their teenage son, Jeremy (Chris Demetral). John Landis conceived and created the idea for "Dream On" based on the idea of having Black-and-White film clips from the vast Universal Studios film Library used as thought patterns for his lead character's thoughts. He soon hired the future creators of NBC's "Friends," Marta Kauffman, David Crane and Kevin Bright, to help him pitch the show to Universal Television, which greenlit the show, with HBO airing the series for the next 8 seasons in 6 years.

2. The Larry Sanders Show -- Originally airing on HBO for 6 seasons of 90 half-hour episodes, "The Larry Sanders Show" was created by Garry Shandling, who based the show on his real-life experiences guest-hosting Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" and what he witnessed when cameras weren't rolling. Shortly before he died of a Massive Heart Attack at age 66 in 2016, Garry Shandling made a deal with Home Box Office, Inc. for "Larry" to return to the HBO Family of Programs, and as such fits HBO Classic to a Tee.

3. Deadwood -- Created by David Milch, "Deadwood" was an Hour-Long Drama Series originally airing on HBO from March 21, 2004 - August 27, 2006, with a TV movie Adaptation now in Production. The series starred, among many other actors, Keith Carradine as Wild Bill Hickok, Timothy Olymphant as Seth Bullock, and British actor Ian McShane as Al Swearengen in a Series combining Real and Fictional Characters and Events. "Deadwood" was a joint distribution between HBO Entertainment and Paramount Domestic Television.

4. Hello Ladies -- Created by Steve Merchant, "Hello Ladies" was adapted from Steve's stand-up Routine about his search for a Wife. American writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky adopted Steve's stand-up routine into a TV series, which originally aired on HBO from September 29, 2013 - November 17, 2013, with a TV movie Adaptation following on November 22, 2014. The series was a joint venture between HBO & The Walt Disney Company.

5. 1st & Ten -- Before O.J. Simpson became a Murder Suspect in the killing of his ex-wife Nicole Brown, Before O.J. Simpson became Convicted of Robbery and spending 9 years in Prison in Las Vegas, and After his Retirement from Pro Football, O.J. Simpson starred in HBO's first original sitcom, "1st & Ten," where he and a number of other Retired Pro Footballers such as John Metusak appeared alongside pre-"Designing Women" star Delta Burke in a series produced for HBO by The Kusher-Locke Company.

6. Tales from the Crypt -- Created by Bill Gaines, "Tales from the Crypt" originated as a Comic Book series in the early 1950s, well before becoming an HBO Original Series, running 7 years of 93 episodes from June 10, 1989 - July 19, 1996. Adapted for HBO by David Geffen, "Tales from the Crypt" was a Horror Anthology Series NOT for the Faint of Heart. An HBO Presentation, "Tales from the Crypt" was Distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television.

Much of HBO's Classic shows are available on HBO Go, with both named shows issued on DVD e.g. the first 2 seasons of "Dream On" and the entire "Tales from the Crypt" series.

That would be interesting but I think anything from the 1980s & the 1990s are more classic material for It(HBO Classic) if WarnerMedia Group can approve.
